Given that he played quite a few PL games before his injury and also the work hes seemingly putting in before pre season begins (although could all just be for his social media), its a kick in the dick to be told you're off to the Turkish second division. Think hes ok, nothing better, nothing worse. Moving him and Bednarek on and then bringing in another starter to compete with Salisu and Kotchup wouldnt be a bad thing if thats what the club are thinking

Love the guy, he is great to have around for his commitment and passion, his warrior attitude is brilliant and something we are needing. I think he should stay, at 27k a week, and with the pedigree, he has the ability to come good. I thought he showed some good ball skills,  and would like to see if his aggression can be used in the holding mid enforcer type.

See some of the great attributes we have to work with from a torino fan. I want to give him a chance to see how good this player can be.

"Why! Why on earth did Torino get rid of him so abruptly? When he's been playing, he's been one of our best players this season. Not only is he extremely aggressive when going in for challenges, but he is also passionate and a leader amongst the ranks of our team. He shows traits of being an incredible defender at times. His passing range, pace and stamina are all also really underrated in game. 76/82"

How this guy wasn't a regular after his performance at Stamford Bridge is beyond me. He's worth ten Bednarek's. Yes, he is prone to a mistake, but he has what we've been desperately lacking in some actual determination and leadership. We're as soft as they come all over the pitch and this warrior changes that dynamic on his own. Be baffled if he is shipped out, but this is Ralph... Who doesn't want any other leaders.

This is all getting a bit bizarre.

SR havent as far as we know bought Goztepe and why would Lyanco be willing to drop down to the turkish 2nd division ?

everything points towards the sale being as good as done. Goztepe has released their allocation of foreign players from last season according to their official website.

Goztepe fans were getting restless with the lack of information coming out. Last week there was additional info came out that Sport Republic had signed a memo of understanding on the 15th June.

It been reported that they're expecting for Roberto Gagliardi to start as Director of Football this week.

I whole heartedly agree with everything but the last bit

Never believe rumours of course but let's say for once this one proves correct, it would be typical of the Austrian Flopp to write off a player before the poor sod had hardly had a chance to prove himself in the first team. One wonders if his judgements are made purely on footballing grounds or something much more personal and sinister like backroom divisions or inter-departmental strife. How is it that a next to useless layabout like Redmond seems incapable of doing anything wrong in Flopp's eyes yet Lyanco - according to these rumours - is on his way out already. It doesn't make any sense at all.

From what I've seen of the guy he is well worth persisting with and brings a sorely lacking sense of adventure and excitement to the otherwise predictably dour and boring displays that the current Saints seem to specialise in.

Genuine question...aside from Instagram what does he so that makes you think he is brilliant?

I am baffled that anyone could see brilliance in him based on what we have seen so far.

I think some see him as brilliant for the same reasons Benali and Prutton became crowd favourites. Great blokes, totally commited, but raport with the fans doesn't win matches.

Apparently the rumour of him going to Turkey is incorrect.

That makes sense to me, I reckon a reporter has confused him and Valery, who was strongly rumoured to be going there. Whether Yan wants to is another story but after a decent start in a 5 man defence as an attacking wing back he hasn’t looked remotely good enough as a RB in a 4 neither as a CB in a 5, although not quite as dire as RB. Couldn’t make the Birmingham squad either so if the Turkish second tier is equivalent to league one or two here that would be more Yan’s level. Lyanco seems to be part of the club’s plans as 3rd/4th choice they can develop so the report seemed an outlier.

Two left footers (Salisu and Colwill) and two right footers (ABK and Stephens) would remain. Unless we keep Simeu for a 5th CB option. I like 5 CBs in the squad especially when we were relying on Valery at times last season.

There is a case to be made that Valery is better than Stephens

Looks like a sale, Bologna dead keen, Giovanni Sartori apparently set to hold talks with Saints.

Let's swap him for Hickey

Off to Brentford for (up to) £19m (!)

Hickey seemed like a saints signing in a different multiverse.

In my opinion that would be shame - feel he's got something to offer the squad...OK not a definite starter but such a great character and presence.

Ah. Didn't realise his value was that high or Brentford had secured his signing. Shame.

I like the cut of his jib, full of self belief and full of life and fun. Larger than life characters like Lyanco are few and far between in the modern game. Saints need him about the place and he's a half decent footballer too as we saw last night. He musty surely be a contender for a starting place next week.

I agree with you about Lyanco in centre midfield for Sunday.

I have just written a post about him this morning in the Bournemouth thread.

This current Saints side is in my opinion, too bland, too nice, too ordinary.  There are no leaders in the side. Lyanco is different. A little bit spicy, a little bit dangerous if you will. .

I wouldn't want him selected for every match as he clearly has limitations. But our side lacks alot of things and characters are one.

So maybe, give him a go as there's not alot left to choose from at the moment.

After the match, if it goes horribly wrong, then shoot me down 😇

ANN was our best midfielder against Bournemouth. As for playing a CB there 😩

Jack Stephens was the best DM we ever had, but never played there.

Apart from once, and he was shit. But that doesn't count. He needed a run of six games......!

Fuck it. Let's give Lyanco a go there. At least we'd have some bollocks in the middle of the park.

Totally agree. Gave the ball away a couple of times, but to be expected considering he's still getting up to speed.

as opposed to who?

He can see that Bella K, Salisu and CC are a terrific trio and his chances are limited. If he wants to play regularly he needs a move. It's obvious. Good luck to him

True, but Saints can't afford to be without a 4th CB, particularly if NJ does end up pursuing the 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation. The possible fees suggested for Lyanco are not particularly high, so do we look for another cheap replacement or would it be possible (or indeed desirable) to recall Simeu or Stephens from their loans?
