We are already on 28pts -7GD with another 45pts to play for. I don't think even the the biggest glass half empty Saints fan will be taking those odds Yup, plus Norwich (currently in 18th) are only averaging 0.74 points a game. If they continue at that rate then they'll also achieve 28 points.

I wouldn't be so sure. I know it was Frank's first league game in charge but they were abject the other night against Newcastle. There's no fight in them whatsoever. Reminded me of our very worst times under Pellegrino and Hughes with their lethargic sideways and backwards passing and comedy defending.

They'll be fine, Everton will do what's needed to stay up, Goodison atmosphere, remember when they had to beat Wimbledon at home to survive and Hans Segers dived over the ball a few times.
Sheaf Saint Posted 11 February, 2022 Share Posted 11 February, 2022 This is Everton's form over the last 4 months.. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/formtabelle/wettbewerb/GB1?saison_id=2021&min=8&max=25 I watch them a lot with my Mrs and I've seen nothing in their performances to suggest they are suddenly going to improve. I would absolutely love to see Everton go down I really would, they've been a bogey team for us over the years especially at Goodison and I've often found their fans to be arrogant and see themselves as such a massive club. It would also see us rise the table in clubs with most successive years in top flight. Older fans I know have a particular dislike of them , just mention Highbury 1984. I just can't see it though, they'll put a run together and will probably get something against us , Deli Ali scrappy toe poke over the line 88th minute Edited 11 February, 2022 by JRM
S-Clarke Posted 11 February, 2022 Share Posted 11 February, 2022 I think it'll be between Norwich, Newcastle, Watford, Everton and Burnley. Brentford have possibly done enough in the first half of the season to afford the run they've having now, they're good enough to get back on it in the coming weeks and pickup the handful of wins they need. I'm pleasantly surprised by where we are at this stage and hats off to Ralph and the club for putting us in such a good position. From here, given our remaining fixtures, I don't think we'll be looking over our shoulders at any point.

Dr Who? Posted 12 February, 2022 Share Posted 12 February, 2022 I have said all season that Brentford have what it takes to drop like a stone. But every time I think they are going that way they get a win. Newcastle will be alright. Norwich are showing improvement, and Watford will sure things up. I would not be surprised if Burnley put a run together. Also over the years when Everton struggle they always just found enough. Never known them to be out of the top flight. Brentford/Burnley, Norwich and Watford for me if I had to choose 3. We will see one/two of those completely fold and throw in the towel.
SaintBobby Posted 12 February, 2022 Share Posted 12 February, 2022 Good points for Everton today. Starting to look like last season - a handful of teams at the bottom who are utterly beached. Although, it looks like 3 from 4 this year, not 3 from 3! (Although I expect Newc to get their shit together).

What is changing for them that would see such an upturn in form give they are currently all on 10 or 11 points? Last season it was possible to stay up on 28 points, I think there is a decent chance it will be even lower this season. Following back to back wins Burnley need 4more wins and a couple of draws from 15 remaining now (i.e. 14 from 45) they look good (as expected) wtih 2wins, 2 draws, and a narrow 1-0 loss vs Liverpool. Plus Weghorst is a class signing for them. Injuries could be key but they are weathing the catch up fixtures well. Newcastle are 3 wins and 2 draws from their last 5. They need 12 points from the remaining 42. I certainly wouldn't bet against either of those teams managing to hit 33/34 points. What i don't think anyone counted on, was just how appalling leeds, everton, and (to a lesser degree brentford) were going to be. Certainly looks like an entertaining end of season relegation scrap. And the last game being the Chris Woods derby as well - burnley will never have so many neutral fans! As above though, i certainly think the margin is going to be above 28 points. Oh well MLG, you can't get them all right 🤷♂️, and it certainly looks like the money wasn't on your side re the relegation points totals. Always seemed like there would be an uptick in form for some of the bottom teams (I just couldn't see them all not making changes and continuing their their first half of the season form - something had to change). But even I am slightly surprised by quite how well Burnley (currently) and particularly Newcastle have done. Could well eclipse even the 34/35 points I was expecting - saints may even end up 17th with Dalek being delighted, and I'm sure there are some saints fan's getting a bit nervous with us on 40points as well at the moment. Saint86 Posted 7 May, 2022 Share Posted 7 May, 2022 Playing like we are, i would say there is a slight chance that we won't be safe on the final day, and frankly our survival hinges on the teams below us not all catching us - not on us getting ourselves safe. I know MLG might hate that statement, but I wouldn't want to bet that we'll get another point on current form. But then who knows, we might actually see a reaction?!?! I think it will likely hinge on Leeds, who need 7 points from Arsenal (A), Chelsea (H), Brighton (H), Brentford (A) - assuming we won't get another point. Equally Burnley do need 7 points to overtake us from; Tottenham (A), Villa (A), Newcastle (H). Before today i was more concerned, but they've fluffed it hugely against Villa at home and that may also save us. They now need to get a result out of spurs away and beat Villa away when they couldn't win at home. Everton need 8 points to overtake us from; Leicester (A), Watford (H), Brentford (H), Palace (H), Arsenal (A). I certainly wouldn't bet substantially that they won't achieve that. nta786 Posted 22 May, 2022 Share Posted 22 May, 2022 The prices for 2022/23 to round off this years annual relegation thread. Bet365 ranks 5 other teams at the moment as more likelier to get relegated, though to note one of Nottingham Forest/Huddersfield will also probably be in that list after the play-off final.
