saintwbu Posted 11 January, 2022 Posted 11 January, 2022 I sound like a broken record now but Ings was shite for us for the first 14/15 months, and he turned out alright. We need to give Armstrong time. He’s gotten worse/less impactive as time has gone on, which was just like Adams did in his first season - to me that just says confidence issues. It’ll come i’m sure, it’s extremely early days. 5

Agree, Armstrong has only been here a few months, give him time. 2

Mr X Posted 14 January, 2022 Posted 14 January, 2022 Armstrong is nearly 25 and at 20 Broja already has everything armstrong has and more. I'm not going to write him off but its not looking good the last few appearances i haven't noticed he's on the pitch, it's always tough to make the step up to the premier league che has proven that but one things clear he was not ready to be an immediate replacement for ings. I really hope he can come good next season but how does that help us this season? he needs more game time in preparation for when broja leaves but at the same time he is not first choice or even second choice at the moment. 1
Saint Garrett Posted 14 January, 2022 Posted 14 January, 2022 He works hard, and he's quick, but thats about it. So wasteful when he gets chances, and just overall is not that good unfortunately. Really hope he can improve next season, or this one could easily start looking like a dud.

Perhaps you haven’t noticed him because he was a sub and at Swansea spent most of his time defending & Brentford was on the pitch for about 5 minutes? Broja was given a 5 year contract by Chelsea for a reason - anyone with one eye or more can see Broja attributes. Very unfair to compare the two.

Think he's only 2 behind Ings in Prem goalscoring stats? Imagine what'll happen if he suddenly catches fire 🙂
Nemi Posted 15 January, 2022 Posted 15 January, 2022 Only got another 10 mins today but how easy is he to marshal off the ball. Neither Ings or Adams were terrible in the first season - they weren’t as good but they both showed they’re capable. Armstrong meanwhile shown literally nothing about him whatsoever, it’s so clear he is out of his depth. Some can step up, some can’t - that’s just how it goes and Armstrong is a Championship level player, no more. 1 1 2

Charlie Mealings Posted 29 January, 2023 Posted 29 January, 2023 He is in a bit of an odd place and lots of fans don't rate him. I wrote about why I think AA is really a good footballer, but doesn't fit our current squad, and how hopefully with the right teammates he could be our next Shane Long. https://cmealings.substack.com/p/adam-armstrong-can-be-the-new-shane 1
