Anybody still believe Everton are too good to go down?

I’d still bet against it if I had to put money down. I think they’ll beat Watford and Brentford, pull off a jammy win somewhere else and stay up above Leeds.

Everton’s January transfer business… Mykolenko for £17m. He starts, that’s about as positive as it gets for Everton based on the names coming up, but Digne he is not. Patterson £12m, signed for the future, but they need the now, made one appearance. El-Ghazi, not good enough for Villa, not good enough for Everton, lucky to make the bench, made two appearances. Dele Alli, a shadow of the player he once was and we dodged a bullet if we were truly in for him. Sometimes form isn’t always temporary and he’s become a bench player for a relegation battling side. Van De Beek, hasn’t done anything since the move other than pick up an injury, another who possibly isn’t suited to this league.

They sure are poor at transfer windows.

Two strange things happened this weekend in the world of football.

That's the most I've ever enjoyed a Burnley win.

And that's the most I've ever enjoyed a Liverpool win.

I think I may have some bias towards Everton.

If they go down (Everton) they'll surely be the shortest priced favourites to bounce back at the first attempt.

Wouldn't be so sure. Most of that squad are Billy Big Bollocks,so can't see them wanting to stick around in the Championship, especially with the World Cup scheduled for the winter.

Good point.  Just the same, you'd expect the cheque book to be flung open if that happens.

They will come straight back up. You can see that budgets make huge difference in Fulham and Bournemouth transfers over the other 22 championship clubs. Doesn’t seem Moshiri is skint at the mo

Aren't they restricted to what they can spend though due to FFP?

They’ll still come straight back because of the squad they have. Then if they sell any, they’ll be able to replace them within the restraints of FFP.

I still think they’ll have just enough to stay up anyway

Technically yes but all staged in years and also parachute payments mean healthier budget anyway plus sell Richarlison for £40 m etc. I don’t know too much but will be limited by money they have more than FFP but relative to the others they will be minted. Shame Newcastle didn’t go as well as that woudl be some competition

If they do drop through the trap door aren't the spending restrictions even tighter in the Championship and below? So selling Richarlison for that £40m only fills in the ravine between Premier League and Championship spending limits, leaving them still on a tight budget.

off they go again - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61213710

that's the second time they've "wanted answers" since they became Frank Lampard's Everton.

I hope they go down, they really will not be missed at all !

The answer is simple. It wasn't a 'clear' foul and Gordon had already been booked once for diving.

He cheated his way to a penalty against Burnley recently by going down far too easily from minimal contact. He's a very talented player but is already building a reputation as a diver.

Shane Long Mk2. Hard runner, dives around a bit and doesn't look like scoring. (all based on 90mins I saw yesterday!)

Did the money come from Moshiri or Usmanov?

On top of that they’ve got a new stadium to pay for, and apparently no relegation clauses in their player’s contracts either.

Everton didn’t look too special against lower league opposition in the cup games earlier this season.

It’s by no means certain Everton go down, but it now looks more likely than not they do, and if they do, I think they’ll be in significant danger of going more Sunderland/Pompey than Newcastle/Villa.

That's a bit unfair. Been watching him a lot since he played in the U23s with my nephew and he's got the kind of technical ability than Long can only dream about.

Haven’t thought that since we played them at ours - worst team I’ve seen in a fair while.

Still have some decent players there,  out of interest if they go down and hypothetically we could pick up their players cheaply are there any you would want to sign?

Richarlison.

Not because I'd particularly want him playing for Saints, just so we didn't have to play against him.

Leeds season could turn on this game.

Win and it's close to a two horse race between Everton and Burnley for the last relegation spot.

Lose or draw and their next three fixtures could well see them dragged into the fight.

It will be interesting to see what points total the 3rd from bottom club gets with Burnley on a good run and Everton will be up for the relegation fight. I reckon that 3rd bottom club could end up with 37 or 38 points.

Reminds me of our game against Swansea a few years back. (the hotelgate one)

I'd predict 35 will be the mark, but it only takes one or two results to push it up past that.

I'd imagine the managers will try to calm it down a bit at half time, but I still wouldn't be surprised if either team doesn't end up with 11 on the pitch at the end of the game.

Would work in our favour for Palace to be missing a few on Saturday

As 0-0s go that was pretty eventful. 🤣

Good result for us too, mid table rival dropped 2 points, Everton rival increased their gap by 1

Question, the foul by the dugouts just before half time was clearly given by the 4th official. Is that allowed?

Only in disciplinary matters, not in the normal function of the game.

Wigan can all but seal the L1 title tonight with a big win against the skates. They're 2-0 up at HT.

Championship getting interesting, Bournemouth slipping up at Swansea and Forest winning at Fulham
