3 of their signings in January are bang average, so yes he is doing a much better job than expected.

Seems to some success is all based on how much you spent.

3 of those players have been sold for more than most clubs would pay for them. They’ve been ripped off.

yeah Bruno Guimares and Trippier (who's largely been injured)aside, even we would be unhappy with any of the other signings. Like it or not, Howe's doing a good job, even getting a tune out of Joelinton. They have overpaid for sure, but it's not comparable with Pep and City operating in the market of replacing £50 million players with £50 million plauers.

How many of Pep’s player were known to you before they signed? He pays high but clearly coaches them to massive improvements

Err...ok mate. I'm not sure I've heard anyone say Pep is a fraud. Of those Newcastle signings, Targett, Wood, and Burn wouldn't get near a top 4 side. They were the best Newcastle could get in those positions and all credit must go to Howe for getting results with them and the rest of his squad. Don't get me wrong, Bruno is some player, but don't be trying to convince anyone that Howe has been gifted elite signings because he hasn't.

The Howe Newcastle topic is as boring as the Broja one. Absolutely fruitcakes on here

Yep. Manager signs average players and gets a tune from them, so the manager must be shit and the players demi gods. Odd.

I want Arsenal to get that fourth place. Or, more accurately, Spurs and United would be the most hilarious combination to miss out.

The ultimate shame will be if one ends up 7th in the Europa Conference league , but I can't see West Ham getting enough points to catch either of them.

So I'm guessing you won't enjoy the "Broja signs for Newcastle" thread if that happens?

he is apparently a shit player who is worse than what they’ve already got so not sure why they’d want him. If it happens it’ll be interesting to see if Useless Howe can develop him beyond a six goal a season striker with a lower ceiling than a player who can’t get in a team ahead of a 35 year old journeyman who might be without a club in 8 weeks

it has worked out very well for them. Of course the likes of Eddie Howe, Chris Wood and Matt Targett wont be of any use to them in 2 seasons time but they are doing a job for now.

Not sure that any of their squad will be with them in two seasons.  Nearly 100 million spent just in the window, money is basically on tap, and like all big clubs FFP will be skilfully circumnavigated. They are a club on a different stratosphere to us now.  Quite how the Premiere League can block Abramovitch and force him to sell, whilst allowing Newcastle to be funded as it is, is quite beyond me.

Notice how no one really cares/talks about Chelsea and their recent owner.  Let alone Newcastle.

appears satisfactory amounts of virtue was displayed a a few weeks back. More important things to talk about now.

It’s all about the race for 4th and if Liverpool can win the quadruple.

Not in places where you like to get you information no. Although you were baffled why certain stories already reported weren’t bumping Ukraine from the headlines so there is some work to do on understanding how the news works.

If it sold or drew an audience, we would be fed it by the tabloids.

You cannot discuss ad nauseum. If there is a reaction but ultimately nothing changes it moves off the news.

one thing that has seemed to diminish is the campaign of the collective. We are all far to easily distracted now and token reactions rather than real campaigning.

I think it actually suited the government, as well as the Premiere League, to not scrutinized Abramovitch too closely, given the amount of other Russian money invested in and around the capital.  Not that it takes much investigating as a recent documentary showed, very dodgy wealth with some very unsavoury contacts.  And now there's Newcastle.  Does anybody really believes that their money is being solely provided by a private funding initiative?  Money talks, doesn't matter how filthy, dirty, smelly it is, somebody will take it.

The Saudi money isn’t mysterious it is from their shed load of oil. Abramovich had squads of lawyers who aggressively went after any journos if they dared publish anything and threaten them with bankruptcy

I'd prefer to see Liverpool win and increase chance of everton relegation.

Definitely this. Still plenty of time for Liverpool to not win the league. Everton staying deep in the shit is absolutely the priority.

Lampard winning a derby match would also be pretty vomit inducing, that's for sure.

And for us to be the ones that end their title challenge.

A repeat of the Ralph crying game would be perfect. An early goal followed by 88 minutes of then trying and failing to score. Imaging how high pitched and whiny their hideous accents would be by the end of the game

One of the very few times I hope Liverpool win. Everton going down would be hilarious.

Not me. I want Everton to go down as much as the next guy, but a Liverpool quadruple would be the absolute worst. Can you imagine the insufferableness from Liverpool supporters?!!

I will never root for Liverpool. Ever

As bad as it’d be for the rest of us, imagine being an Everton fan if Liverpool do the quadruple and Everton go down after hiring Benitez…

That said, even if Liverpool win here today, I still think the league is a long shot for them. I reckon City dropping more points than Liverpool is unlikely.
