I'd just like to say a big thank you to Burnley for injecting the remainder of the season with some much needed excitement. I thought the bottom teams were all going to lose their way to the final game, but lasts night result will surely have just put a rocket up all of their arses!

Lets hope Burnley win the next one to really ramp up the pressure on Everton. To add to the hilarity, they will sack Frank as soon as they dip beneath the line.

We weren't allowed Newcastle, but Everton is still on the table.

Yep.  Everton v Man Utd and Norwich v Burnley this weekend.  If all goes to plan, more pressure added.  Nice watching them squirm for a while.

I think we can find better for less money from abroad.

Riiiiiight.

Pickford cost Everton circa £30m from relegated Sunderland. Unlike then, he is now first choice for England so his value will be higher. There is better value abroad as @Sheaf Saintsaid.

How much do you think he'd cost, considering he was sold by relegated Sunderland for £30m before he was first choice for England?

Well seeing as Everton would need to dump top earners I reckon around the same. Will find out how much he goes for if they go down. Will end up at Newcastle anyway most likely if they did go down.

The point is we won't find a better keeper than him for cheaper. Not that we are ever going to be in the race to buy him. I rate Pickford highly.

A strong case for him being England's best player last summer and has certainly never put a foot wrong for country. However, like Maguire and Shaw, for whatever reason his club career hasn't been as successful with a relegation already on his record and going by the Everton forum, he's certainly not a fan favourite with many calling for Begovic to start ahead of him. If it was based purely on club career, we wouldn't bat an eyelid at him. Then you factor in that Everton paid £30m for him, as already mentioned and he's probably already on more wages than our highest earner, he's not going to take a wage drop to come here, it doesn't look as appealing a deal, as he could also bring his Everton form here, rather than his England form.

I can't see him going to Newcastle, whether it's all pantomime, but he's given it back to their fans following his time at Sunderland.

I can't get onto Grand Old Team from my work computer (which has blocks) as it is now considered a malicious website. I've not had this trouble before last night so I wonder if it's been hacked! Toffeetalk will have to do then.

Grand Old Team certainly made for good reading, although not for the faint hearted as there is certainly some pretty poisonous stuff on there. No one escapes the flak, Moshiri, Bill Kenwright, and of course the housewives favourite, Frank. Expect he might be out if they don't get a few results, at least he gets a pay off, and the wife has a decent salary he can fall back on.

Couple of the amusing posts in there.

Sacked Martinez too soon, bad choices ever since... , should get rid of Lmapard, calls for Fat Sam, and one poster suggests Warnock. They have certainly lowered their expectations since the summer they recruited Koeman and were on here telling us what a great club, and history they had.

were martinez, koeman, fat sam, marco silva, fsw and lampard all mistakes?

Didn't bother researching their views on Benitez

A terrible appointment in a line of terrible appointments.

I wouldn’t play Doucoure ever again. He’s shocking a carthorse of a footballer

How much did he, and Iwobe cost ?

On the subject of Kenwright, he's always come across as a pretty decent and well intentioned bloke, but Christ they really lay into him as well.

The only positive that can possibly come from relegation is that fact that this cancer will finally be purged from the club. There's no more hiding behind anyone this time for the fat tumour.

Thought this was pretty low even by their standards.

The thing I find strange about Frank is just how many protectors he has in the media. I listen to talk sport quite a bit, and they seem to give him a hard pass. Most of the match day callers fail to blame him as well.

'The problems were already there.' Seems to be the fav line.

But for me, he is the biggest problem. When he took that job, he knew the situation. When you go into an environment like that you have to have a plan. You have to organise, coach and recruit. All I've seen him do is flip flop his blame after each defeat. He doesn't seem to learn. He really offers very little. No defensive organisation, no identity, no structure. I honestly think they could have picked anyone from their original list, and they would have done better than him. I just hope he has now done enough damage that it ends in relegation. If ever there was a club who deserved a wake up call, its Everton.

Yep, agree with most of that. He's had a shocker and has made them worse. Big Dunc would have done better, and probably the youth team coach. Terrible appointment, although I think they'll avoid relegation, unfortunately.

All not well in the Everton ranks it seems. Frank is a distant coach and despite what he achieved as a player he doesn't command the respect of the squad because his communication with them is poor.

Would be wrong to say he's lost the dressing room because he seemingly never had it in the first place. Most players would have preferred they stuck with Benitez but recognise the toxic atmosphere from the fans made that untenable.

None of the senior players bothering to put in extra hours in training. Just finish the required sessions, get in their expensive cars and bugger off. Certain players already mentally checked out cos they know they are leaving in the summer.

Not a happy camp.

Everton are with our doubt the worse team I have seen at SMS in years. TBH I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. No fight, no organisation, no team ethic - it truly was terrible. As much as I do not like Everton I was expecting more.

I think the ream were expecting more and playing within themselves, until Ralph told them at half time to stop playing with their food and get on with it.

Interesting. I know him and Ashley Cole reportedly left a match separately, not on the team bus. Cole’s  appointment felt like a real “job for the boys” appointment. No doubting he was a world class player, but he wasn’t the most professional, nor does he seem the most intelligent/a good communicator when he does his punditry. Duncan Ferguson is essentially their Kelvin Davis in the coaching staff, but they’re too scared to get rid of Ferguson.

I'm sure the signing of Dele Alli did a lot to calm things in the camp.

The stadium on the docks at Everton is underway.. if they get relegated and ffp smashing their finances to oblivion..they could be stuck with a players on high wages that they can’t sell.. stadium will be quoshed for the unforseeable future.

They are in real danger of doing a Sunderland. If they  go down I will absolutely love every scene at the emirates on the last day!!
well overdue and so deserved .. the running of the club has been catastrophic!! They have a team with no leaders .. no character.. rudderless and with a manager well out of his depth !

Hmmm. I'd better not repeat what I heard about him.

Suffice to say, those of us who suggested he wouldn't be a good signing for us were absolutely correct.

Honestly wish the Super League thing had taken off. I know the standard of the remaining teams left in the league would be lower, but would take that.

I lost any semblance of interest or respecting The European Cup/Champions League when you no longer had to be the champions of your league to enter it. Not sure how fourth place merits a champions tag.

Now they've reduced the bar and you don't even have to be in the top four, but can qualify by default, providing the name is a big enough draw.

Not watched any CL football since it stopped being on ITV and got the Saturday night final. The idea that you get in the CL for winning the cup is OK, it should be more important than finishing 4th.  The idea that it is conditional on you being Man U, Spurs or Arsenal is bollocks.

Sometimes I think the media actively want women’s football to be mocked. The fact that they can juxtapose that video with Wayne Rooney’s all time England record is quite the feat of imagination. Mind you, it wasn’t long ago they were talking about Alex Morgan overhauling Eusebio so there is precedent.

Newcastle will end up finishing above us, how depressing when they’d only one win and had hardly hit double figures by Xmas 😩

Yep, they will, but when you spend nearly 100 million of blood money in the January transfer window then they should finish above us.  Sickening on all levels.

C'mon Man U. Fully behind you today. You've got a new fan: for the next couple of hours anyway.

Yuk. Feel sick cheering them. I've got 40 minutes to wash my mouth out thoroughly, and cleanse with a Bangkok evening beer. Then I'll turn to insulting The Dugout Losers.

Man U are just about the right crackpot club to not show up and gift wrap a win for Everton.

This. It’s the exact sort of game that Everton could get a result, and it give them the belief to put a run of results together.

Everton have been crap as usual and scored from a lucky deflection.

There's still another 45 mins for them to have their obligatory defensive brain fart.

Goodison crowd seem up for it, think I heard them say Everton haven't lost any of their last 34 home games when they have led at half time, random stat, I'd take  draw now can't see United scoring 2
