A real blast from the past to see Tomas Pekhart turning out for Czech Republic last night. Just about remember his goal in the doomed 2008-2009 season

He's actually made a decent career for himself to be honest. Had higher hopes with that loan signing than Jordan Robertson.

Gallagher looks a very good player. Chelsea churn out some cracking players.

If Chelsea are anything like the Chelsea of old, not realising the talent they have at their disposal, they'll probably sell him in the summer. Mind you if they're 'cash strapped' they may want to hold on to the likes of Gallagher and Broja.

Blimey just checked it - 5-4 down in the 91st minute and they won.

5-2 down on 63 minutes after a Dover player had just scored a 12 minute hat trick.

Would have loved to have been at that game.

In League 1 results went against Pompey. Ipswich beat Plymouth and Sheff Wed had a comfortable win.

Over recent times they've sold Ake, Guehi, Bate, Livramento, Tomori, Livramento, Abraham, and others. Nothing compared to  De bruyne and Salah though.

Good old Southgate,  plays 3 cbs at home then takes of kwp whose been playing rwb the replaces him with sterling and shifts our arguably best cb out to rb in a 4 at back

I thought the idea of these games was to test the options and have a little tinker with things  - both with players and tactics to improve and learn about various options should something go awry. Southgate knows he will get hung out to dry with the media what ever he does, Tyler made a negative comment a few minutes after we went one down along the lines of the world was coming to an end for England: build the ducking stool and hire the Executioner.

With your head screwed on it’s hard to criticise Southgate when he has delivered one semi final and a final (sod whatever the route to them was), since 1966 England has, aside from Robson and Venables, been mostly Fur Coat and no knickers.
Both Switzerland and Ivory Coast are good teams to dabble against, as both are capable and offer different challenges, ideal for a dabble.

If anything, the FA acquiescing to this nonsense does more damage to the cause of head injury prevention than it does good.  I genuinely find it sickening the FA get on board with this pathetic charade of pretending they’re actually doing something about a well chronicled disaster in football.

See i dont disagree with you as such, I just think change starts with a small step, and hopefully some real change actually starts to happen.

I mean, the sub thing when a head injury is a pretty good way forward, but i can also see teams/players taking advantage of this as tactical subs. You see players going down now with apparent head injuries when in their box defending, hoping the game will be stopped, so there is also part of players/teams also being responsible for this too.

Yes, there is that. You’re correct, teams will try to exploit it. Football teams are genuine shithouses.

That said, this is too important an issue to continue to ignore. I’d rather have teams trying to game an advantage by getting a fourth sub on, than I would team forcing a player back on the pitch who is genuinely in peril for his health.

Yeah totally, and it wont take long for players/teams who keep abusing to get found out, particularly now days when people chat/post shit on Twatter etc all day long.

Do we know if the FA/EPL are actually looking into to subs for this? I expect it will happen at a major tournament first, then leagues will take place.

Although wouldn’t bet my house on it starting in Dec at the World Cup.

Kyle Larin just put Canada 1-0 up vs Jamaica with an near identical chance to Adam Armstrong's vs City last week. Canada need just a draw to qualify for Qatar.

I’ve been Hearing good things about Canada and that have an exciting young crop coming through, an almost ‘golden generation’ (for their terms).

A few have tipped them to surprise a few at the 2023 WC, which is hosted in your neck of the woods... how’s it looking for them over there, Ottawa?

Lots of excitement for this squad. Our biggest star is Bayern's Alphonso Davies but he's missed most of this campaign with myocarditis following a covid infection.

We play a nice game, with high pressing and quick counter attacks. We have players whose value is rising all the time. Ottawa's own Jonathon David is a real gem, he plays for Lille in France. Indeed most of the team play in leagues like Belgian, Turkish, Portuguese, MLS, English Championship.

Will be intriguing to see how we get on in Qatar and as you say 2026 is here (not in Ottawa though) when the players will no doubt be even bigger stars.

And as I type it's 2-0. We're off to Qatar!!!! 1st appearance since 1986!

There is a good poster on another saints forum i sometimes read who is from Canada, and he has been getting pretty excited but this team. They have some very good players, I’m looking forward to watching them at the WC.

Fine. Stop the game. Better to be safe than sorry. Let them have a sub on, but insist that the player who has gone down "apparently with a head injury" leaves the field and gets properly checked in a hospital. I have a feeling that feigning a head injury would soon stop, while making sure that anyone who IS injured gets prompt medical care.

Just watched the Senegal vs Egypt shootout. Fans shining lasers in the faces of the Egyptian penalty takers and goalie. WTF?!?!

Ridiculous that was allowed to happen and I'd be fuming if I was Egyptian.

Liverpool players wearing commemorative t-shirts at the weekend?

For goodness sake don't give Turkish more things to be triggered by! 🙂

For someone who has me on ignore you don’t half spend an awful lot of time talking about me Suzy. How seriously odd.

in fact I just had a look at your profile, 5 of your last 8 posts have been about me. 62.5% of your posts across the last 4 days have been about someone you regularly launch foul mouthed tirades against which are usually littered with vile language and proceeded by demanding others not to quote me. Come on admit it, you can’t get enough, I’m your guilty pleasure aren’t I 🤩

Payback is a bitch, they have done it multiple times apparently at games in Egypt.

This season, although there has been no official guidance given to top-flight teams as it does not affect every game, captains can again request a drinks break at an appropriate moment in the game during their pre-match meeting with referees.

Remember when drinks breaks were the most outrageous thing football had seen?

Absolute ball sack of a VAR decision, both players had a dig in at each other. Varane’s leg was only there because he messed up his challenge.

I thought it was a foul tbh, ihenacho hoiked his leg....
