The commentators keep saying what a great game it is. I think it’s been boring. Lots of passing it around hardly any chances of note

England definitely missed JWP.

Southgate out.

Pretty wanky result especially as this lot lost at home to Albania.

I do wonder if the FA can see that GS is really holding this squad back in its full potential. I know we made a (home) final but still really unconvinced by his tactics/subs in the longer term.

FFS beat the shit out of the racist cunts

I was in the home end so the Hungarian fans were quite far away from me but apparently a steward heard one of them use a racist word - I don't know whether it was in Hungarian or English - then all hell broke lose as an army of stewards and police waded into the Hungarian fans, egged on by the home fans, who'd booed and jeered all the way through the Hungarian national anthem and were shouting various xenophobic comments at the Hungarian players. There was a drunk chap near me who, when he wasn't making paper aeroplanes to throw towards the pitch, spent the whole game shouting "You're all f---ing racist c-nts" at the Hungarian players. The xenophobia of the England fans at Wembley has got a lot worse lately. There seems to be total contempt for anybody foreign. Meanwhile, in the programme we had a feature telling us that we were celebrating Black History Month.

Well, there's a certain degree of accuracy in his statement, don't you think, whatever you may think of the England fan? As opposed to the Hungarian ultras who have total and active contempt for anybody non-white. I've been at England matches both here and abroad and have been embarrassed by our fans behaviour,  but in this instance perhaps you could reconsider the only target of your attack?

Isn't labelling all Hungarians as racist, well, racist?

"You're all f---ing racist c-nts" at the Hungarian players." The best Hungarian player was incidentally black.

I was at Wembley the last time England played Hungary, in 2010. There were more Hungarian fans there then and no crowd problems whatsoever. Now, anybody from any Eastern European country and perhaps almost any European country gets their national anthem booed and is subjected to abuse at Wembley. I also heard f---ing Frogs and f---ing Krauts mentioned  in a nearby conversation (if the word blacks had been used they'd have been arrested , it would have got massive news coverage and somebody would have ended up in jail). We are stirring up hostility with insincere virtue signalling whilst turning a blind eye to real hatred. The people who used to shout racist abuse have now just found different targets: foreigners, especially those from European countries. That is not respect.

but apparently taking the knee is definitely having a positive impact.

I don't dispute some of the facts of what you're saying, but I think Victor Orban and the like have more influence on the situation than England fans "stirring up hostility". My comments were more on the one-sidedness  of your post in ignoring the Hungarian fans' behaviour, and ignoring _their_ real hatred and violent behaviour. None of it is acceptable.

Not sure best place for this but David Brooks at Bournemouth has been diagnosed Hodgkins Lymphoma poor lad

Indeed.  The good news is that young people have excellent prospects of treatment and cure with that particular cancer.   Good luck to the lad.

Very bizarre story this, Man Utd are flying to their game at Leicester, presumably to East Midlands airport which is northwest of Leicester anyway.  Apparently it’s to avoid potential traffic on the M6.

They probably wish they were still on the M6 after the beating they got today.  OGS must be close to the end now.

Doesn't financial fair play stop clubs owners spending a disproportionate amount of money into transfer budgets etc? Or that it is what it was supposed to do!! I don't really understand what the rules are.

“How was the game pet?”
“Shite.”
“Want me to put yer tea towel in the wash?”
“Aye.”

Sometimes you think football has gone and then it all seems ok for a while. Then you see people in the crowd dressed like that and it's obvious that the whole thing is fucked.

It would be hilarious if they went down.

I'd love it. The way the fans have treated Bruce and the way the new owners are acting it would be hilarious to see them relegated. Plus I hate the away end at St James' Park.
