SNSUN Posted 19 May, 2022 Share Posted 19 May, 2022 Lampard at Everton reminds me of Hughes with us - grinding out results to keep their respective teams in the League while playing terrible football. I only hope that, like we did with Hughes, they keep faith in Lampard because, right now, I think he's overrated.

SNSUN Posted 19 May, 2022 Share Posted 19 May, 2022 Everton fans will now be hoping for a City League/Real CL double now for a really good summer. Burnley draw. It's in their hands but Leeds could get something at Brentford and Newcastle will be out to ruin Burnley's day.
SNSUN Posted 19 May, 2022 Share Posted 19 May, 2022 Even though I doubt Leeds and Burnley will win their fixtures on Sunday... but the old adage of 38 points = safety is very close to being true this season, even if it isn't in other seasons. They have enough quality regardless of who is in charge, you can’t spend £500m like that and go down Yeah fair enough. They left it a bit late in the season to start showing it though. That run they went on from October was worse than anything we have managed in recent years. But let's be honest, even in the games they have won recently they have looked mostly terrible and ridden their luck a bit, like beating Utd with their only shot on goal that took a wicked deflection. They've got a big transfer window coming up now. They are very limited in what they can spend due to FFP, and Richarlison (who has probably kept them up single-handedly) will be off this summer guaranteed, as will DCL most likely as well. They will need to spend whatever they get for those two very wisely.

HarvSFC Posted 19 May, 2022 Share Posted 19 May, 2022 It was fun while it lasted. Leeds to go down then, they have money and although they've spent it on a lot of crap since winning promotion, there's also potential for them to find another Raphinia. S-Clarke Posted 19 May, 2022 Share Posted 19 May, 2022 (edited) At HT Everton were staring down the barrel, but Palace absolutely dropped their balls in that second half. Their fans must be fuming for that second half effort, they were horrific. I think Burnley's result is a good one for them, being above the line ahead of the final day is always a phycological boost. They're at home too, whilst Leeds are away. Odds are against Leeds, you'd have to say. I never thought I'd say that at the start of the season. I'm probably wrong, but I remember it being the other way around, didn't Clough have to apologise to the scrote and they appeared together, all smiles, on football focus or something? Anyway, good for Viera, why should he endanger himself by being passive?? And to the twat that wanted a piece of Viera, really? Unfortunately he's going to pay for it. Yeh it's the question of losses written off due to Covid, they have written of something like 3 times the amount Villa and other similar sized clubs have, and pre-covid accounts only had around £14 million in match day revenue for a season, so not having fans can't have impacted them that much. Something dodgy going on, Athletic reckon it'll be the biggest PL legal issue since the Tevez/Mascherano affair with West Ham where I think West Ham ended up paying £20 million to Sheff Utd.
