Is it inconceivable they had Covid cases in the time since the game?

How many FA cup games have been called off this weekend for the same reasons league games have been?

It’s all above board and no need for plebs to have any details. Just trust the PL as they once turned down a big club’s postponement request which proves beyond doubt it is all fair.

And what does this post have to do with white shirts?

you know, I am sure Saints aren't particularly pleased to have to play a league game Tuesday after a Cup game on Saturday either, Leicester.

A headline that read

  • Southampton Bretford game postponed due to short rest and extra time minutes from previous match.

wouldn't be any less farcical than what we are seeing now.

Newcastle about to splurge a £35m package on a striker.

From the outside, it seems an incredibly steep package for a 19 year old kid who plays for Reims, not really a name. Hugo Ekitike. 8 goals in 19 games this season.

The players current value on transfermarkt, which is often a fair guide, is around the £5m mark.

Yeh, but if Newcastle come a knocking these days, you just multiply the market value by seven.  They can have JWP for £280m.......nah......call it £300m

First check to see if it got knocked on for offside . No

Second check was it handball. No.

Keep looking until they found Cavanni falling over after running into Villa player.

That’s exactly how it appeared. Keep looking there has to be something there

Although they are winning, Man United are shite.

Rashford is horrifically greedy (and shite)

Really, really poor. No better than under Ole and half the squad unhappy with the manager.

Now it’s failing at a big club, let’s hope the hipsters finally realise that Ralph ball 4222 is a dog shite formation in this league.

1) Alan Shearer absolutely correct post match..

2) If that was a Man Utd 'goal' it would have stood.

3) I don't get the Rangnick love in ; he has won nothing, never managed a 'big' club before Man Utd, and he has managed to make the team look worse than they did under Ole.

Utd didn't look like they had any idea, no pattern to their play, no general direction in what they were trying to do. Rudderless probably describes that.

Villa should have got at least 1 goal without a doubt, they were much better and much more inventive in the attacking third.

Not sure what's happened to Rashford, it's not a recent thing either, he's been off it for about 2 years now. Not sure if injuries have ruined his mobility or something, but he's pretty much a pub player out there at the moment. Sad to see, he had so much potential.

That’s interesting because he never actually played for them until they were promoted.

I meant the first season in the premier league. And here they are a year on slating him 🙄

The problem with paying kids enough money to set them up for life, they can easily lose their passion for the game.

There has been some outrageously wild shooting in the WHU - Norwich game.

Both teams have been poor.

I wouldn't begrudge Norwich getting something here, and putting Toon bottom......but I think that's gone now. 1-0

Was quite amusing that they announced Pompey had lost in the EFL cup over the tannoy tonight. Got a big cheer obviously!

Was great they always used to announce the results of both Pompey and Bournemouth to groans or cheers depending on the result would be nice if it returned permanently.

Dean Smith new manager bounce going well then. Just the six defeats in a row with zero goals scored in those six.

I reckon they might go be going down at this rate.

Anyone else watch the Cup of definitely not corrupt nations earlier? The ref blew for FT with Tunisia attacking, after 89 minutes, 45 seconds and no injury time.

And that was after he'd previously blown up, at 85mins. Only to be forced to restart, but like you said he still didn't finish 90mins.

All very weird.

He must have had some money on Mali.

Although ridiculously could be level on points with Watford if they win their next game. Mad.

Our beautiful 4-1 aside, there has been some utterly crap games this week. Turned off Whu - Norwich yesterday on the hour mark. Utd v's Villa was bad, the only talking point was the ref. Chelsea Spuds......crap. And tonights Sky darlings huffin n puffin and nothing else.

Looking forward to Brighton tomorrow, has to be better.

Minamino misses open goal. Altogether now - ‘That’s why we gave him back, that’s why we gave him back’. Was pretty poor for us too

Ramsdale is such a shit keeper. He panicks and flaps most of the time.
doesn’t install any confidence in the defense for me.

I've never really rated him myself, but he's been one of the best keepers in the league this year in my opinion. Didn't expect him to do as well as he has at Arsenal.

Nop very serious.

he can go through purple patches but overall he is very limited.

great at shot stopping yes, but poor in the air, indecisive and his kicking is average

Like your thinking Stevy!  Trash one of the the best goalkeepers in the league right now and maybe we can pick him up for a song!  (Obviously no one would really think Ramsdale is a 'shit goalkeeper')

I can meet you part way on this, but not as far as you.

I find the media sometimes generates a narrative, and anything a player does that broadly meets they exaggerate. With Ramsdale, any save he makes now is met with a 'Another astonishing save by Ramsdale' even if it was a regulation save.

I used to keep, and things have probably changed. But I find his positioning a little bit off, which makes his saves look more spectacular because he was out of position. That's fine at the moment because he is seeing the ball so well and his reflexes are sharp. Any drop in form could potentially expose this pretty badly. One way you can sometimes judge whether the keeper is using technique or just their eye is where the ball goes after making a save. A good keeper with strong foundations will not just make the save, but will automatically ensure the ball is played out of danger. A bit like a boxer like Usyk, it is just ingrained in their technique. A keeper using their eye won't be able to do this as well, and I have noticed that Ramsdale will parry the ball back into the danger, especially with low shots. Pickford used to do this.

That said, he is doing much better than I expected. My gut is that people are getting a little carried away. But he has also shown enough to me that there is a reasonable chance I am wrong.

Brighton v Palace tonight. A Brighton win will keep us where we are in 11th, but would put them 6 points ahead of us.

Anything other than a home win and Palace would leapfrog us (at least until tomorrow), but Zaha is away at the AFCON and their record without him is like ours without Stu.
