Just seen a photo which appears to show him conscious and lifting his head under his own strength, albeit in obvious discomfort. Can’t verify it’s authenticity as there are some strange people out there who are good with photoshop.

I hope more than anything else right now it’s genuine

Such terrible scenes. Disgusting and insensitive coverage by the BBC.

I watched the Heysel match and kept watching as we were not told that 39 people had died , the players weren’t told either and it went ahead which was a total disgrace. It should never been played in a run down under capacity stadium and English teams were banned for 5 years . I have not forgotten that the culprits on the night were so called Liverpool fans and the fact that it was used to cover up Hillsborough disaster . Hillsborough was the fault of years of poor oversight and neglect , previous crushes ignored , no safety certificate, out of date stadium , club and council neglect of their duties and a new Poice commander put in charge on the day with no back up .

Sorry but it was obvious it was serious. They should have cut coverage a lot sooner than they did. It was terribly insensitive.

I think both BBC and ITV are using UEFA’s footage so I’m not sure how much they could do.

The work of CRY - Cardiac Risk in the Young - needs promoting and more funding, saw a presentation on it by Professor Gregg Whyte through work a long time ago. Vivienne Foe, Muamba and now Eriksen, hopefully the outcome is more the latter than the former and he survives this for the sake of his young family.

In what way? What should they have done?

They were zooming in on him being resuscitated multiple times. Then when his wife arrived on the pitch, the kept the camera on her being comforted by Kasper Schmeichel. They could very easily have cut to the studio. It was clearly instantly that this was a dire situation.

The TV coverage of 9/11 would have blown your mind.

Been on the news that he is in hospital and awake.

Both teams want to complete the match later this evening.

Incredible that they want to play on. Surely they won't be in a fit state of mind.

Does seem odd but huge relief and different emotions knowing he is responsive in hospital.

Although I only heard Belgium v Russia was going ahead

He has stabilised but will be far from out of the woods yet.

True, but he’s in the best possible hands and no doubt getting the best care available.

Medics, bloody hell - what wonderful people.

Given the seeming positive news from hospital they may just feel its better to get the game finished. Not sure they would be in any better shape to try and come back tomorrow.

FFS commentators at pains to link Schmeichel error to Ericksen ordeal.

Guess you had £20 on Eriksen as first scorer

That was a terrible pen. I said to my son, “why have they got Hoj taking it, his shooting is terrible, he won’t score”.

Yet you could have changed channel whenever you wanted.

Yes incredible outrage from viewers who were unable to make a decision not to watch as disturbed them so much they just couldn’t turn away.

Sobering stuff and let's hope he makes a full recovery.

Still, got to lol reading back this thread....

"That's the tournament over.

Oh, they're finishing the match."

[Not having a go at anyone. I know it looked bad.]

As someone else mentioned, best place to have that sort of medical episode is on a football pitch surrounded by medical staff, defibs and all the required treatment. It looked bleak but they've all saved his life.

I'm amazed the game went on, Denmark were never in the right frame and the game was at such a slow pace. Doesn't feel like the result really mattered in the end though.

TBF it initially looked like he'd just died on the pitch. If that had been the case then I imagine there would have been serious questions about continuing the tournament.

I agree there would have been serious shouts for the tournament to be needed, but I very much doubt it would be stopped even if a player died. They may postpone games for a couple of days, but that’s likely about all they’d do.

That and I’d expect Denmark to have withdrawn.
