And no Foden.... 🙄

Henderson clearly not ready

Foden is on a yellow card. With mount likely to be missing next game, no point in risking him When we’re already through.

Henderson has played in a friendly and was running / training way before maguire. If Maguire is ready, so is Henderson. Likely to be a case of not risking him When Phillips has been playing well. Hell Come On though.

Sancho must wonder what he has to do to get on the pitch.

Yep weird. Amazed Sterling is playing. Actually, no I’m not, it’s Southgate and he clearly has his favs.

Stuart and Che both start for Scotland tonight :)

Great for both but you have to feel sorry for SA as despite his record he's now "the guy called up to replace billy gilmour"

Very odd treatment of him recently. It's hard to make a case for Sterling over him for this game.

Sterling was imo one of the main reasons we were so bad against Scotland. I have no idea why each England manager seems to persist with their favourite players regardless of form. They do it in almost every tournament and its maddening.

A team of:

Pickford,
Trippier, Stones, Maguire, Shaw,

Rice,

Bellingham,Sancho,Foden,
Grealish,
Kane

Would smash this game and get us excited again.

True and sadly will always be this way.

Also these barely fit players would not be in squad if they didn't play for 2 of the big clubs.

Good team, although someone mentioned that Foden is on a yellow so I'd have Saka in for him. Loads of pace, and players with a point to prove.

Southgate doesn't have that ruthless streak that the best managers do. Say what you like about someone like Jose who seems a bit past it but when he was interviewed in the radio it was clear that he would have dropped some of these players for sure.

Yeah fair enough saka in for foden then for the yellow. The point still stands, that teams going to scare everyone but we will just play not to lose again and probably win 2-1 tonight and have learnt nothing.

Agreed. Games like this should be used to rest those needing one, and give the fringe players a game, with the message that there's a shirt to play for.

Indeed. What's going to be learnt by playing Sterling that we don't already know? If Bellingham started then maybe he will be excellent and force his way into the team. Even if sterling plays well he's going to play in the next game regardless so why bother?

Can we start saying, we are going to win the tournament yet ?

Only if you keep telling us Henderson ‘isn’t fit and ready’.

(please can someone quote this so he see’s it)

Sorry. I’ll probably get slammed for this opinion , but I don’t think Armstrong is very good , time and time again tonight promising attacks have ended at his feet.

He’s had a poor game so far. Still time to get the winner though.
