Bit gutted that StM's will miss the return of Ronaldo. Whatever you think of him, he is history in the making.

I'm glad we dodged him, and got to face Martial instead.

Bit of a joke really, ever since Leicester won the league the top clubs have shit themselves and spent hundreds upon hundreds of millions to ensure nobody gets close again, even finally pulling the trigger on the super league threats to try and officially make it a closed shop. Something needs to change to stop this absurd level of spending that is only possible for less than 10 clubs in the entire world.

People on here wanted us to sign Gary Fucking Cahill!

There's no other 36 yo in the world as fit as Ronaldo. And the punters will be queuing out the club shop for his shirt.

Its a great signing for anyone who understands his commercial value.

Financial fair play has been nothing short of a joke. Until a salary/transfer cap is brought in nothing will change. Issue is for that to happen, all leagues have to adopt it which means it has to come right from the top ie. FIFA. Otherwise say the Prem introduces one everyone just fucks off to la liga or serie A for more money.

As it stands, the dream of a Leicester occurring again are very quickly disappearing - the gap between the haves and have nots seems to have got even bigger this year.

With that being said we nearly beat United last week😆

Sissoko a good signing, I’d have gone for a bit of that (dependant on wages and fee of course). Strong, experienced, seems like a decent pro.

Can he play in the nets?  We need a new goalkeeper FFS.  You hipster types piss me right off.

OK , but he comes across as a bit of a psycho these days plus not playing so many games and could unbalance a team ! But as it’s Utd that’s fine 😀

While i’d Love some sort of wage cap in theory, not sure even if the likes of UEFA did it, how you’d prevent a super league cabal of big clubs then basically rendering it moot.

Yeah, before Leicester won the league the biggest clubs never bought all the best players. That's why we were so lucky to sign Danny Fox when we did.

Ronaldo 4th behind Cahill and Fonte IMO.

As good as he still is, I wonder if he'll be detrimental to the team at a whole. Utd need to move on from being a team of individuals really. Can he press or is he going to be a passenger?

Also some doubts last season about whether he can still do it against the best teams

Pogba goes from sublime to shocking in nearly every game. I'm sure CR can clock a few minutes here and there.

If Ole wants to be a top manager at a top club, then these are the questions he needs to answer.

But on a two year deal, there's no way Utd can lose with this signing.

He doesn't press at all, Tifo looked at him as to whether he would fit into City and basically said he'd have to be carried in that regard. He is basically going to to sit in the box and walk around until there is a chance for him. He can still run though, saw that in the Euros when he cleared from his own box and was up the other end of the pitch in no time tapping it in. He just saves his energy for basically scoring goals.

Utd not a huge pressing team anyway though, and with Rashford and Sancho he's got two fast hard working people who will just work of him, with him being a pivot in the middle.

He'll still bang goals in imo and lift that team because he is relentless, he's a perfectionist and will expect that from his teammates, he'll probably send a rocket up Pogba if he has some of those games Pogba tends to have where he just switches off. That dynamic will be interesting.

What is hilarious IMO is ol' slabhead Maguire is now Captain to Ronaldo, Pogba and Varane.

One of the worlds most lethal strikers.  Good signing, even if his work rate off the ball is not great.

Indeed. Hes just a brilliant "fox in the box" player these days, but credit to him for adapting. He'd have rotated well with Che and Adam though.

Lesser teams regularly beat the top teams is my point. Won't see that this season. The 3 big spenders from the summer will blow away almost all the bottom half - if Ronaldo had already signed for United when we played them, they'd have won 4/5-1.

He's been here a few times first time around when in his prime. Did you not see him?

We were in L1 and the Champ when he was in his pomp with Utd. Think he's only played at St Mary's once and that was a cup game.

He's played twice at St. Mary's, once in the league in 2003 just after joining, we won 1-0 with a Beattie goal. Second time was in an FA Cup quarter-final, losing 4-0, which Ronaldo got the second goal in.

Really, £25M per year on a 3 year deal - that's a lot of shirts to get anywhere remotely near payback. No doubt he has been a world class player but I wonder if United had gone for him if City hadn't? Will enjoy enjoy watching him in the PL again, but can't help thinking he's Untied's Walcott

There was a time when small clubs stood a chance of signing the current European Footballer of the Year.

I've had enough of other teams' players making history against us. Happy for him to give us a miss.

At one point he was meant to be the next big thing. He’s never fulfilled his early promise and from what I’ve seen of him he appears to me to be a poor man’s JWP

Think he’ll do well for them. Just the sort of defender I could imagine moyes loving and getting the best out of

Always thought he's been pretty inconsistent and over rated imo, one of those players who should have all the ingredients to be a very good centre-back but never puts it all together and makes too many mistakes. He's had two loan spells at PL clubs and never looked good imo and always been in and out of the Chelsea team.

Sabitzer is apparently going to Bayern for just £13 million, shows how much value is out there in the market, hope we get at least one more in before the end of the window.
