Pre Season 2021-22

It was obvious Ralph would field a very different line up today compared to wednesday. I'm actually surprised there wasn't more changes in fact. Clearly he wants as many players to get 90 mins in the tank as possible. Weds line up clearly stronger but it does highlight glaringly obvious weaknesses in squad i.e. lack of capable strikers. We looked blunt against levante and given the step up in opposition today I suspect we may be given a lesson by Bilbao.

Is Vestergaard not back in training yet?

Wondering about Ward Prowse's knee injury, if it's alot worse than they are letting on.

Vestegaard has a very similar 'knee injury' to JWP I suspect. It's one of those knocks that will suddenly improve either immediately after a transfer, or the transfer window closes.

We are clearly rotating line ups across these two games. Only Salisu, Diallo, Romeu, and Perraud are playing both. This clearly isn't our strongest lineup or "the best we can do", this is giving the back up a run out to make sure they are prepared also, as well as a select few who's positions don't have sufficient depth so must play both.

People need to stop panicking based off this, we will have Adams, Tella, KWP, JWP, and maybe a new striker back within the first week or two, no need to judge this line up as if it is the one going against Everton. This will be mostly our bench.

Also showing up just how short we are in CM. Having to play our only 2 fit options for 90 minutes every friendly.

Yeah we need one more, but I think JWP will be back and then we have three, and Armstrong can play there pretty well. I don't think it's too bad.

At last some sense amongst all the bed-wetting/we're doomed/outrage.

Reality now though, a couple of injuries and we are exactly in the same mess as last year…..only worse 😂

Didnt KWP and Adams get slight knocks mid-week?

I  think they did, certainly KWP. When all is said and done it's a friendly and no need to risk anyone.

Hooray the most sensible and realistic post of the day

That front two is truly diabolical. Not even close to being competitive for a Championship side to be honest.

The reality is that we decided Long and Obafemi weren't good enough last year when he was shipped out to Bournemouth and Obafemi almost to Swansea.

They might be good lads and all that but a serious PL side should never be starting with Shane Long these days or Obafemi. Hopefully the next few weeks will weed Long in particular out of the equation, he shouldn't be anywhere near our squad. I know they probably won't start many times in the PL, but I don't think they should even be in and around it.

Is Ralph just sending a message to show how weak we are with a few out? Or does he know his best team and is using these games to look at options?

The latter primarily I'd imagine, when he had that tiny bench midweek it was quite likely he'd do something like this. Maybe a little putting Long/Obafemi in the sales window.

As I said midweek as well, could be a behind closed doors friendly today too. Split the team in half, one public friendly watched by Ralph, one private one, then swap. Keep youth players in the behind closed doors ones so a few people have to play both "open" ones.

Seems to me he always planned to play 2 different line-ups for these 2 friendlies. The team for Everton will probably be a mix of the two along with potentially Vestergaard and JWP back in the mix. Personally I would have preferred he played his strongest side in this last friendly but hey i'm not the manager. No clue why the bench has been left so short for both games though - you'd think he'd want more options to replace people if they get a knock.

FFS it’s a pre season friendly and Ralph is ensuring that as many of our first team squad as possible are getting a full 90 minutes into their legs.

JWP is carrying a knee injury so it makes sense to keep him out of the firing line and Vesty won’t be anywhere near full match fitness.

why risk all of our strongest line up in a friendly that will almost certainly be competitive.

So rather than use the final friendly before the start of the season to bed-in our potential first eleven we use it to put players in the shop window. Well, it's a different approach I'll give you that.

My brother said to me last night that we are going to be relegated and I was adamant that he was wrong.....if that is the best we can field its good night nurse

If we don't make a minimum of 3 proper first team starter level signings in the next 3 weeks I am 100% with your brother on this. All this banging on about we know we need more players blah fucking blah and I bet we start the season with a weaker squad than we finished the last one with.

What's a VPN? How do I change it?

In idiot's terms - How do I watch the game?

basically using a 3rd party server - example surfshark, nord , express vpn locaated in another country - if you set it to another country you can access their websites that are meant for that market.

Example if I get surfshark vpn - set it to US and then load Netflix it gives me the US options on there not the UK
