Replay most of the goals we’ve conceded in the past couple of months - and that penalty - and they came from breakdowns in the space formerly filled by Romeu.

And he helps us transition out of defence before the back four triangles get started.

In our system he’s close to irreplaceable.

Good game this.

 

Awful start obviously but other than that we've played pretty well.

Benteke though is a problem... with Bednarek on a yellow, I'd be tempted to bring on Salisu

Decent half once we got going, didn't let our heads drop and bit save from Fraser.

Crying out for a sub or two - Minamino may as well have not been there, and Bednarek is being bullied and is on a yellow.

 

So looking forward to N'Lundulu coming on at 85' as our first sub.

he also has the Scoles-like abilit to know how to position his body correctly and the quality fo first touch so that the ball doesn't take half an hour to get under control forcing the pass to be backwards.

Ralph will have to get through his mystifying objection to playing someone who can defend pretty well though

Redmond has been ok. But he still shouldn’t be near the team. It’s that we’re so used to him being utterly dire that playing quite well is a significant upgrade.

Like a dog that shits on the tiles instead of the carpet. It’s better but it still stinks!
