doc oli Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Fair play to us, there’s no licking of wounds going on
obelisk Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Saints defence looking pretty ropey there but got away with it.
Jimmy_D Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Playing well, looks like Ings is finally starting to get back to match sharpness.
igsey Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Shocking defending from Vestergaard, fortunately Moura isn't very good.
DT Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Very very good half. Excellent commitment. Don’t let it off the boil, Ralph. Keep that momentum and go again. Nothing silly.

obelisk Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 That's not a bad reaction to Sunday's performance from Saints. A bit worrying that it's only 1-0 though.

trousers Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Any reason why we can't play with that passion/desire/committment all the time...?

The body language and effort are vastly improved. Just why ? No Bertrand? He looks like a player that can be a nuisance when things are not going well but all brightness and light when things are going well. 1
Nemi Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Still think there’s gonna be a few more goals for both teams

I've had my suspicions about Bertrand's influence on the squads demeanor for several years now. Wouldn't surprise me.
Convict Colony Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 To be honest that is probably the best half I can remember this year.
hypochondriac Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Almost certain to lose. A draw would be a good result though. I hope so!
Baird of the land Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Played very well so far. Just a shame Adams didn't have more composure with his chance. Armstrong once again has been very good in the CM role, which is gives us another option there going forward. Tella bright again. We're going to miss Ings quality in front of goal if he leaves. Feel we seem more comfortable playing out with Macca in goal.
nta786 Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Just now, trousers said: Any reason why we can't play with that passion/desire/committment all the time...? Perhaps because it leaves us open defensively? Sunday felt like we were trying our best to make sure the game was always within our reach where instead we should have went gung-ho at the end. Also, our first half performances have generally been good! Let’s see what the second half conjures up- we will tire and Spurs can’t be this bad surely.
TWar Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 This formation looks a bit like a 442 diamond at times rather than our standard 4222, Tella and Walcott a lot wider than normal and Armstrong a lot higher up.
Wurzel Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 What's going on! Have they had some sort of clear the air talks since Sunday. Fast, positive, committed, actually playing with smiles on their faces. Best 45 minutes this year. Still, guess it's easy against a mediocre mid-table English team, glad we're not up against one of the European elite teams 😂😂 1

OttawaSaint Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 From BBC: Southampton had nine shots in the first half, their most in the first half of an away Premier League game since last July against Everton (also 9).
suewhistle Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 I'm no lip reader but they showed Ings at half time and I think he was muttering to himself 'F*** me'! Whether that was the score or the effort he's put in I'm not sure but we certainly deserve that lead. Salisu showing his lack of experience a bit but his pace is really useful. The tackling has so much more bite to it tonight and even if we don't get the win this half has reminded us what we can do. 1
SNSUN Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 We look so much better with Adams in the side over Redmond. Criminal he didn't start at Wembley really. Granted he should have score do early on but he gives defenders a headache. Decent performance so far. Get the second and it would be difficult to see Spurs getting back into it. Concede and we may see our heads go down. Need to see more from Tella for me (overall, there were some encouraging signs that half). Bar Armstrong I still don’t fully rate the AMs in the squad. Great header from Ings. Overall keep it up Saints. Are we still in the dark about Bertrand?

Micky Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Spurs can't be a bad in the second half, need to keep the intensity up, can't afford to take our foot off the gas.

davefizzy14 Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Great 1st half from us, more bite and energy. Great header from Ings
VictiAbNonem Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 So glad we didn't concede just before halftime like we did in the reverse fixture. I really hope we come out and start the second half like we did the first.

East Kent Saint Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Ings putting himself in the shop window (as per Mane) with potential suitors ? Great corner by JWP , must have been spurred on by posters on here !

DT Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Every single little niggle and squeal this ref gives a foul for them 1

DT Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Diallo for Ings? Um. Weird. Ralph tinkers with formation and they’ll come on to us. 1

nta786 Posted 21 April, 2021 Posted 21 April, 2021 Hmm Tella must be going up top then with Adams Armstrong, Walcott in the No. 10s

Making such a big shuffle instead if just a like for like sub is risky because it could disrupt our rhythm and let Spurs back in. Like that! 😔
