Talk of vaccine passports is abhorrent and is something you would expect of China not Europe

You only said China to scare people. You could also expect something like this from South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, NZ or Singapore, where restrictions have been much more stringently enforced and as a result they've had much more freedom in the long run.

I reiterate;

Seriously comparing Manaus to here is a complete waste of time, plenty of lads went there in the World cup and saw first hand most if it is terrible condition

Europe has f****d their populations over right royally.  Here in the US (with the exception of California and New York and the surrounding States) we have not really had lockdowns.  Those that locked down have the same results as those who did not (base don per capita).

Of course COVID is bad for certain demographics - for most it is an inconvenience (I was wiped out for 3 days with it but nothing other than that and my kids and work colleagues in their early 20s had some sniffles only).

Talk of vaccine passports is abhorrent and is something you would expect of China not Europe.  Slippery slope beckons......

People should be allowed to decide for themselves what level of risk they are happy to accept not be forced by a Government and 'scientific' advisors to shut themselves away for ever.  Wake up and look at the mental health issues lockdown has caused.

The sooner fans are back in the stadium the better.

Great post, you're spot on.

Selfish lockdown lovers here cheering on the Govt to impose restrictions on people's liberty, loading the country up with astronomical debt that the younger generations will be paying off for the rest of their lives. Once interest rates go up a lot of tax raised will have to go to paying interest and not public services.

Damage it's done to kids is just disregarded. Got to stay home, protect the NHS, nothing else gets a look in with the cult of covid.

One of the saddest things I've seen was "mascot" experience at Newcastle is basically a zoom call with the players with the kid sat at home and the players walking out of the tunnel holding an iPad.

Kids shouldn't have to worry about all this covid anxiety being pressed on them by adults.

Back to the football, looks like we'll have to tolerate crazy things for a while longer , SAGE advisors will  come up with more fun sapping ideas to control the people.

Bet you report your neighbours if they have one to many guests round for drinks in the garden.

Not true: https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/public-health/states-ranked-by-confirmed-covid-19-cases-july-1.html

Some may have had "sniffles only" but don't tell that to the 20-30% who are long haulers, many of whom are going through hell.

Not one person on here has been "cheering on restrictions" or been calling for lockdown. As for this "control the people" nonsense, behave.

There's not one person who wants lockdown. Not one. We've all but vaccinated the vulnerable. Get them out of the way and for me it's open season, open stadiums, etc.

As for paying for this, yep, of course we will and our kids. That's inevitable

You criticise the manaus picture, but it highlights where we may have been if we hadn't locked down. You can't have open season without having a manaus, and I'm not sure if you're suggesting a) we could have stayed open and somehow avoided absolute carnage or b) we should have stayed open and tolerated the carnage, but both options are a nuts.

Lockdowns don’t make a difference except to ease the pressure on The NHS.
clearly they reduce the infection rate until ever6one comes out of the LD and then bizarrely we are back to square one.
