Managed to go the whole weekend without seeing a minute of either the Duke’s funeral or the semi-final. Laid a bit of decking with some beers in the sunshine and saw a cracking Grand Prix with another McLaren podium. It’s been lovely TBH.

fuck off.

Not quite sure what to say... no shots, no passion, no idea, no fight, there really isn’t anything to play for each year other than the cup, so why no motivation??? No player can look himself in the mirror and say I tried my best .  For me the bigger issue is from the bench there was nothing to try to inspire, no inspiration, from the players, exactly the same, I think there is something going on that the fans don’t know. The owners seem to never give anything away either, nobody seems to have a plan, an idea or any ambition... it’s us fans that get kicked in the teeth year on year. Southampton FC are such a rudderlesss ship , year on year...

We miss Romeu.

And I fear Bertrand's lost his fire.

They were def the slightly better side. But their goal was actually incredibly fortuitous.  There's another universe close to this one where that deflection back off Vest went in any of 50 other directions, and no goal scored. And where we're all celebrating Diallo's wonder strike.

Football.

Really too bad.

The hate here is over done.

That was particularly bad.

We must be the worst team in the entire world chasing a game.

The big players didn't show up, simple as.

Centre backs played well; defensively we were decent. Other than Armstrong, the attacking players were really, really poor.

You honestly think Bednerek played well.....

Collapses in a heap of laughter.

To be fair, defensively and positionally he was alright tonight I thought. He was done for pace a couple of times, but that will always happen if the full backs push up and the midfield don't cover.

He's been much worse than that this season.

Yeah, we've just lost an FA Cup Semi Final.

Yeah. Never mind.

Show some fire boy. He is part of the problem with this squad.

No leadership. He looks scared shitless every time he touches the ball, he’s probably relieved just to get off the pitch. Great at set-pieces but falls apart the moment an ounce of pressure is applied to him

Not sure it's hate. I think most of us are just bitterly disappointed and frustrated that, having anticipated and looked forward to such a massive game, the players just didn't turn up. It is not as though Leicester played out of their skins - they were pretty ordinary and yet, in over 90 minutes, we could neither ruffle them into errors nor show any guile ourselves that might have led to us at least testing Schmeichel.  It all smacked of a total lack of self belief and courage - we just seemed so meek and timid and unwilling to attempt to impose ourselves on the game. As a team we were content to play the safe option or just pass responsibility on to a team mate even if he was in a worse position. We didn't attempt to get players in between their lines and made it very easy for them. These opportunities come along rarely and to totally bottle the game is hard to stomach.

I did, that’s kind of my point. There’s no joy or entertainment in watching Saints at all. Until they aspire to something a bit better than 12 defeats in 14 or whatever it was before today I’m not going to go out of my way to tune in.

Ryan Bertrand for me was one of the biggest issues in our squad today.

He was running the ball out, I was getting all excited for an attack, he'd stop somewhere near the halfway line, turn around and pass it straight back.

Wtf was all that about?

And it isn't just today in isolation, he's been doing it all season.

Him and Redmond today killed that game.

You watch or go to an FA Cup Semi Final no matter how you feel about your club at this moment in time, form or predictions go out of the window. These are one off games, we don't get many opportunities to play in them.

Your attitude isn't great and pretty much sums up the attitude of the players on the pitch today as well.

'It's just another game'.

When I look back to last season, what was the point of beating Man City 1-0 at home? Backs to the wall, heroic stuff - but for what? 11th? What's the point. Those sorts of performances need to be in these competitions. Priorities seem a bit skewed all over.

That's just plain weird. Who cares how shit we've been, it's the fucking FA Cup semi final and you'd rather watch people driving around in circles?

What a joke.

Just a pathetic performance really. I'd rather we'd just gone for it and lost 2 or 3-1. It's a one off game FFS. Go for the win. Seems like we were scared to lose.

Feels like we've been playing that way for a long time now. Just as well the fans aren't back in yet or they'd be even worse, if that's possible.....

Do you know how much it costs to go to Wembley match?

Or any away game?

Me and my mate go to aways and we spend the best part of £200 quid minimum. Each.

Not everyone gets the train and goes on the lash for away games. Plenty buy a ticket and a seat on the bingo bus and take a packed lunch.

Wembley tickets are obscene though.

My point is, like the bloke you quoted, we've lost 12 games in 14.

If you'd travel to Wembley on the strength of that and spend 200 large then power to you mate.

I wouldn't.

My point said that form and how you feel about your club should go out of the window in these games.

This is Southampton, we play in Semi Finals about a handful of times in our lifetimes. I'm gutted we couldn't go today and I'd have been there through whatever method. Yes, tickets are expensive, but this was still my club in an FA Cup Semi Final and I'd be paying to watch it.

What the fuck are you talking about? He chose not to watch it on TV because we've been a bit shit recently. What bearing does the cost of going to watch the game have on his decision to watch it or not on TV?

We make a day / night of it.

If it's something like Anfield or a Old Trafford we'll have a weekend of it.

But generally for an away with tickets, food and travel its a good £150. Each.

He also got lucky in that his shot was going wide hit Vestergaard and went straight back to him. Doesn’t take away the fact that we deserved to lose, it was a pathetic performance, how the fuck can you play in a semi and not even muster a single shot on target.

Apart from the (lucky) goal Leicester also had zero shots on target. Both teams were crap.

Have we actually gone forwards since Pelligrino? That performance today was straight out of his coaching manual.

I think we crossed the half way line once in a recent game - can't recall which one though.

Which is what I used to do before I started taking the kids to aways.

Definitely would have gone today even though I'd have moaned about the ticket prices. It wouldn't have crossed my mind not to.

You do realise no one paid 200 quid to go to the match today, right?  No one.

Show me the receipts for the £200 you spent travelling to and attending todays match and I promise I will.

Jesus fucking christ we actually have Saints fans on here gloating about not watching the game or explaining to us how they wouldn’t have bothered going. A semi-final of all fucking games.

Sometimes, we have the club our feeble support deserves.

Leicester do have better players than we do accepted, however their organised pressing and general tactical organisation was in another league to ours too which is the disturbing aspect of today’s and many other performances in recent months.

good point. Our tactics and general shape is terrible. We give teams everything they want - space and lots of it in or final third.
