I'm mixed race (Black/White) and this just smacks of an equality appointment to appease the "lack of ethnic minorities" at Senior level within sport Agenda.

It's unfortunate but inevitable that it would be people's first impression (it was mine too, things being as they are these days). But this guy does seem genuinely qualified for the job, a player in the lower leagues in England and Spain until 2015, masters degree in law, worked in employment law, CEO of Mallorca. The flack is unjustified.

In what way, do you know anything about the guy?

No and I'm sure he's vastly qualified for the job, he also ticks a pretty box that's been getting a lot of negative press too.

That's my opinion and no amount of ping pong debate will change that.

Thanks for the background

Speaks 5 languages, lawyer, former player, been involved in the game in different forms throughout the world. He does seem like an interesting and (hopefully) capable man for the job. There’s a few names floated about that had they got it I think it would justifiably have raised eyebrows as to whether it was on merit or because of the general climate around race and football, this guy does not seem to raise that question imo. A progressive and promising step forward from Gordon Taylor.

Sounds like a great appointment. A graduate who is great with power point, does a world class Ven diagram and can make lovely graphs from excel

Here we go. There would have been moans and groans had a white applicant got the job and there's still moans and groans now an 'ethnic minority' candidate has been appointed. Whatever happens, someone has to pick it all apart and look for the racist element so they can get on their soap box and start preaching. I am getting sick and tired of it. Surely if he is the best candidate for the job, that's what matters. Good luck to the bloke.
