Stephens in midfield, hopefully time to get proven wrong about that

Or could he be right back in a back 5?

Don't agree with dropping Forster,  defence need settled keeper behind them

So who's playing RB then? Bednarek? Stephens? Salisu?

I'm really not sure bringing Macca back is the best idea here either. Fraser has done nothing wrong in the games he has played recently.

I'd assumed it's five at the back with Armstrong being a more defensive midfielder alongside JWP as we did the other day.

Really don't think Jan should be at right back. He needs to be in his actual position.

I think Ralph will put Fraser back in on Sunday :)

Probably the usual 4222 with Bednarek right back and Stephens in central midfield. No chance a left footed centre back like Salisu will be playing right back when Bednarek is in the team.

Interesting eleven and let's wait to see how Ralph has them set up. Can't see us scoring but let's see what happens. Could be any score this game.

Nothing like fu****g with ff's confidence

Missing out may help his goals conceded stats but would much preferred he played tonight

utterly bizarre from Ralph. I can understand resting some for Sunday but surely FF doesn't need a rest? Maybe he knows we are going to get hammered and doesn't want the negative experience to fall on the shoulders of FF.

I used to play centre back  , communication with keeper so important so don't agree with all this changing just when Forster building solid relationship with centre backs, we've just aiming to take a 4-0 defeat tonight and move on to Sunday.

Think Ralph probably gave assurances of a cup keeper and a league keeper.
Forster has now become our league keeper but given how we’ve progressed in the FA Cup, would be harsh to also remove him from that team but also unfair to give McCarthy no games. Seems reasonable to use him in a ‘free hit’ games, especially one against a team he has put in probably his best performance of the last 12 months.

Once again Redmond back in the starting XI. Did he earn his way back in? Did he fuck. And that's the problem with him, he never has to play his way back into the side. I would rather have played Watts. It rewards poor performances.

The thinking might be that it keeps Tella and Minamino fresh for the more winnable game at the weekend.

This is a lunatic selection. Redmond and McCarthy. Pathetic. Ralph is a buffoon sometimes. KEEP A WINNING TEAM

Why do that regardless of circumstances? Brighton don't play in mid week... we do... vs the best team in the country.

I know the thinking. But that wasn't my point. I would rather have played Watts. He's looked handy in his couple of appearances and so that rewards positive play. I'm very tired of Redmond continuously making his way into a starting XI without earning it.

Because we ended a long losing run, so you try and build. You don't tinker. And certainly not with players who were dropped because they were crap, against the best team in the country. Looks really stupid to me

The BBC empahsising again that the last time we played in Manchester we had 2 red cards, ( amongst certain other details about the match at OT ). They never seem to add that the second was unwarranted, subsequently rescinded, and that the final result was a consequence of the referee's utter incompetence in buying Martial's play acting.

What’s so difficult to understand about leaving players who have just come back from injury out of this game to have them ready for the weekend? Playing twice in four days cost us KWP last time. I would have left Armstrong out as well personally.

The only one I don’t get is dropping FF

At last a sensible post

I don't understand dropping Forster and I don't understand starting Redmond over Tella.

We're not winning this regardless, but I'm not sure why Forster get's dropped.

Careful. You'll be called 'negative'
