Summer Transfer Window 2021

My tuppence worth. I think we have done well so far in this window. We are no weaker in the main as most of the players that have left so far played little if any part last season. We are getting shot of the dead wood. The ones we have brought in are quite exciting and highly rated, save for Walcott. Yes, we probably need a bit more strength in depth, but we are not a money bags club so when injuries get tough, we are bound to fall on hard times and have to rely on youth.

We had some links to Marco Kana a little while ago - plays DM and CB.

Still very young, though.

Given our new links with feeder club Chelsea, Trevoh Chalobah ticks the boxes.

Excellent shouts. Kana def seemed like an “us” kind of signing when he was linked.

Although I am pleased it seems we can still compete in the market and attract players over other clubs I would argue more needs to be done this window. All 3 new signings have yet to play one minute of PL football and they are bound to need time to settle. So that leaves us with what we finished with last season minus Bertrand and Minamino. We remain a brittle erratic team that needs more grit and experience for what is bound to be a tough year. If all our players turn up and we keep Ings, Vestergaard and Ward-Prowse then there is hope but to pin our survival odds on two academy players and an import from a struggling French side is not enough.
The goalkeeper situation is a concern too. Surely Ralph can’t continue with alternating?

Agree with this, but I feel one more decent centre back and that will keep us clear of trouble .

Tom Leach says we want a ball carrying CB who can do a job at DM and when we signed Livramento it was said that it wasn't the last purchase with buy back from a big 6 club that we were trying to make.

2 + 2 = 5

Ethan Ampadu?

So, now we've got some money to play with.

Armstrong I assume will happen now.

Can we get Delaney through the door...? 9m is the going rate there.

If we've got 30m ish for Ings, £15m for Armstrong and £9m for Delaney with cash to spare.

Armstrong and Delaney in, would still like to cash in on Vestergaard OR if he will sign an extension sell Bednarek or Stephens and get another CB in.

Armstrong and Delaney for a cost of £20m in total would be nice. I'd be willing to offload Obafemi too to Blackburn if that brings total down too.

Assuming AV paid us £30m, and Liverpool take their 20% cut, that is £24m we have received.

However, would still need one more striker in my opinion - I'm not sure what the budget is though but it would be £4m which isn't enough...

However, sad as it is to lose Ings, I'm excited for what the transfer market holds now :)

Patson Daka costing £24 million and going to Leicester hurts even more now.

Let's hope the club have the replacement lined up and ready to go. They've known he was leaving for a while now and should have been planning for it since he didn't instantly accept the contract.

Could Ings money fund Delaney, Armstrong and Edouard? I’d be happy with that if we did.

That is stretching £24 million quite far to be fair.

Does mean in theory though we have a 4 year around £100k a week contract that was budgeted available to throw at a striker now, which as a total package with the fee received and the wages is around £45 million budgeted. Think we need to go get the best high rated striker in Europe that is not at a big club and throw everything we have got at them.

Why £24M. Liverpool get 20% of the profit so £2M not £6M

Not that I think anyone will be gutted with the fee, but we do need to act quickly now to get the fans back on side after spouting "he's here for another season" for months.

Absolutely no idea on the source.

We need to be sensible ourselves though, we don't want to be spending the majority of the Ings fee on one player. If we can stretch it to Armstrong and Delaney then that would be money well invested.

Not sure how legit that source is, but I personally wouldn't be surprised to see this one happen almost as quick.

Yeah we do. On the reports I've seen they want near to 25m and we have offered 10m. Split the difference and add in Obefemi to the deal and it might cost us 10m ish now.

That leaves us 18m from the Ings money (30 less 2m for Liberpool, less 10). Delaney is apparently available for 8/9m which seems good, probably less in reality given his age, so we'd probably have 10m plus what ever else is left for another striker??

Think this is a good deal for us overall.

31st Aug.

About 3 and bit weeks left.

I reckon we've got Vestergaard to ship out as well.

Cheers. Yep agree reckon he’ll go as well. £15m or so for him wouldn’t be bad. Allows us to bring in a replacement plus maybe a few quid left over

Wouldn’t want us to spend the majority (£20m+) of the Ings fee on Armstrong, so if that’s what Norwich are doing, leave it. I also don’t rate Edouard as highly as others do. I could be wrong, but whenever I’ve seen him he’s a bit clumsy, not too quick and overall a bit meh, despite his scoring record. Someone else outside the box?
