another 24 year old center back. Watford heavily linked this week - supposedly in negotiations.

His 5 minute youtube video is pretty much all with the ball at his feet. Right footed, very comfortable. Dribbles out and pings long balls all day long. No idea if he can defend though.

Lyanco Evangelista Silveira Neves Vojnović is the king of the scummers…

Catchy.

I think that's more of an opinion piece on which club he feels he'd be better at, not that we'll get him.

I just don't see this as being a go-er in any way shape of form. Would love to be proven wrong, but I just cannot see how we can attract those types. And we've got our CB anyway.

Like Stuart Armstrong was at £7m? 🙄 🤔

Stuart Armstrong is a decent player, but I doubt fans of other teams are looking at him covetously. We paid a small fee and got a slightly better player than we paid for. He's been a relatively bright light in a very dull team, but that context is important.

We used to do good signings, Pelle, Tadic etc.

Then did some poor signings.

Now we are back to doing mostly good signings.

What is with the ‘melt’ thing btw - was it necessary?

What’s wrong with our recent signings? They have been fine.

Our signings have been better in recent times, the scouting department seems to be more switched on, but I'd have say there are a few more red flags about this guy than usual.

I mean I think Perraud and Armstrong are going to turn out to be really good signings, but they came with a lot of positives, good records in their leagues, highly rated, their clubs pushing for decent fees, seemingly integral to their teams etc.

This guy, is cheap, hasn't been a very regular starter, seems hated by their fans, questions over his attitude etc.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but there seems to be more doubt about this guy than some of the other signings. Will say though Lovren came from similar circumstances and he did well.

Tackle % of 45%

This guy is bang average at best. Vast majority of his stats are the same or worse than Jack Stephens.

A massive loss more like. He's one of those we buy and then have to find clubs to loan him out to until his contract expires.

No because he's bad. If we had spent 22 million people would ask "why have we spent 22 million on this crap squad player?" As is people ask why have we signed a crap squad player (albeit for cheap) when we have a big hole in the squad and should have quite a lot of money to spend?

Looks a waste of money. Hope this is not our main CB signing. If so, it’s going to be a long hard season.

20 hours ago, TWar said:

That's because those were good signings and this isn't. You can say what you want, but you shouldn't be surprised when people can work out if a player is good or not. The consensus weren't wrong on arma or livra, they probably won't be wrong here.

He looks absolutely fucking awful 😂😂😂

I, maybe naively, thought that we’d spend a decent part of the Vestergaard money improving an already weak area of the squad. It looks like we’ve just made it even weaker.

With what this fool Will cost us, we could have got a championship CB in to prepare for it next season. This muppet doesn’t even look good enough for that.

Does that help?

Not really. On any player signed or here ages you'll find posts who rate them and posts who don't.

There's nothing "the forum" thinks, other than MLG being tedious and unlikely to have had sex.

Completely agree.  Hypo asked for details on who had written whateverhisname is off.  I just provided the details.  Personally couldn't give a toss whether people have made their mind up or not - it's a free country.  They haven't made an informed judgement based on watching him play for us but that's up to them.

That's great but no we need an out and out defensive beast and leader on the pitch,  all well and good doing drag backs etc but that's not what we need atm

Agree completely that this is the type we need, no idea if this guy has that in his locker or not, it’s not something you tube will tell us I don’t think as it’s not exciting

Probably is a bit strong.

I'm not sure it is. I was looking at the teams in the league trying to identify 3 obviously worse teams and I really couldn't. We'll see what pans out and hope I'm wrong. We will surely be fighting relegation if you follow the form book. I was really hoping we'd improve our defence and GK for this season and looking at it man for man, we haven't. I hope we can turn our brittle mentality round - when one goal goes in we lose all fight and before you know it, one becomes three etc. We could do with a  Jimmy Case, Razor Ruddock or Terry Hurlock in the side!

Norwich look shit but then they’ve also had a ridiculously hard start.. Watford have made about 40 signings which rarely works well. Struggling outside of that. Brighton gave improved think they’ll be comfortable Burnley despite the snobbery we have them are much better defensively than us have a couple of decent strikers and will be okay. Third relegation place probably between us, Brentford and palace

I must be missing something but he doesn’t look slow and he can pass.

Isn’t that what most on this forum want from a CB ?

Being able to defend, capable in the air, and not shrinking at the first sign of a physical CF probably rate pretty highly in the requirements of most.

Agreed.

Fancy footwork in your own penalty area scares the shit out of me when done by defenders as much by our GK's and we know how that has ended for several of them.

From the youtube clips he does look to have played in a more advanced position at some stage so perhaps he may be moved further forward for us as well.

As others have said, he looks worryingly like a Hoedt Mk II. Hopefully not of course, but if he does sign I wonder if they can include a being-an-arsehole get out clause?

Given Torino might be eager to offload him I'd have thought a loan with an option might have been a more cautious approach.

I've already predicted relegation for us this year, I just wouldn't say at this stage you would call it probable. Newcastle will be down there, Norwich for definite and then you would only need one more probably someone like Watford, Palace or Brentford.

There are worse teams than us, we can look good at times but we are so easy to play and score against even when we play well we lose and look very likely to concede. That’s the concern.

I also believe that the manager needs to make us harder to beat, and not go 'toe-to-toe' with the big boys.  Getting hammered with praise is pointless.

When we did beat city and Liverpool we got a goal and defended for our lives. He can do it, but needs to do it more often. Taking the game to the top clubs when every player in every position is inferior is suicidal. It’s embarrassing that some of our fans are excited about Guaridola saying for 20 Minutes we played well when we were lucky to only Lose 5-1

Ironically the deal could be accelerated if former Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong moves on from St Mary’s.

Yep I think the real issue we have is game management which to be honest is down to the manager. Individually Ralph has improved players but as a collective unit we seem unable to change games abd we pretty much never change tactics to get a victory. We either get success playing the same way we always do or we lose.
