WOULD LIKE TO START A THREAD BUT CAN'T... would appreciate it if someone else did for me...

If we win at Norwich, will you support Wotte against Swansea? Or will he be booed by default?

This club is a ****ing joke.

The one chance we have to appoint a proper manager and we promote a geezer that was half the problem in the first place.

Dowie, Pardew or Boothroyd would have bitten the **** Lowe's hands off to come here with the chance of becoming a hero and keeping us up.

Fuming, absoloute disgrace.

What concerns me, or should I say Wotte concerns me, is that this Total Football experiment that has so obviously failed, goes on - everybody else sees this - why on earth don't Lowe and Wilde?

Wilde may well see it but he does as he's told.

planning permission on jacksons farm in 18 months when government force councils to open up land for housing to continue economic recovery as economy starts to pick up.

government itself will pay £80m for land

At last....someone has posted the first part of this mathamatical equation.

Jacksons farm.....Lowe/Wilde (property developers)......administration......

This has be talked about in the past, but I sugest it needs closer scrutiny.

Wow, Lowe is making such a f**king pig's ear of things now, he is even starting to lose the support of his die-hard luvvies.

Another quickie, cheap decision that will do NOTHING to resolve the crisis of relegation (and administration) the club is facing.

He doesnt get this football thing at all. HE HAS TO GO. He hung his coat on this strategy, and its FAILED.

Never in the field of football competition has so little success - been expected by so many fans - of such an uninspiring new manager .

Southampton Football Club - purveyors of comedy football since 1895 .

We had 10 good years then ?;)

What would happen if by some miracle we did appoint Hoddle, be it in a few weeks or in the summer?

Many would be pleased to have a better manager on board, but then he'd be Lowe's choice, and someone that gets on with Lowe. Strange one, but wouldn't be surprised if Lowe saw that as the only way to "rescue" his position. I don't see him giving up. He'd get to say he'd wanted hoddle back last time etc. and the fans need to give it a chance, then if it goes well, he takes the credit, if it goes wrong, he can blame the fans. Or maybe that's ********.

Forget Hoddle he is enjoying himself in Spain with his soccer School.

Plus he must know how much the fans hate Lowe.

I still cannot understand how anyone in their right mind would appoint Mark Wotte on a permanent basis after the way this season has gone already. He's part of the problem, not a solution. And based on what various Dutch fans have said, Wotte has caused problems at every club he's been at and it's unlikely the players have any confidence in him.

Absolute f**king disaster. Typical Saints!!!!!! Argh.

NO! Wotte is Lowe and Wilde's puppet and is fair game along with the rest. The fans can smell blood from the board. We should not resort to violence but any other non-violent or non-criminal means are fine. We need to be ruthless as a fanbase, leave SMS totally empty for Swansea, turn out in numbers for the march and then a demo outside SMS afterwards that will hark back to the Branfoot era. We got rid of him, we can get rid of these as well but we have to stick together.

Since Wotte is half-hearted about doing it, the abuse at him must be immediate and intense.

"Wotte's a load of rubbish"

You dont know WOTTE you're doing!

...might go to Norwich afterall ;)

I'm not sure what the fuss is all about? No managerial appointment under Lowe turns out to be permanent anyway.

I bet Lowe is already wracking his brain on drawing up a managerial shortlist containing the worst options since the last appointment. You have to hand it to the guy - he consistently proves that he can make things worse than anyone thought they could get.

that is a cling of hope I have

On South Today it said "until the end of the season" but that's how long Wotte's contract was anyway and I doubt if he's getting much more money for stepping up. So possible that he many be around even less long than JP.

I suspect Mark Wotte's contract will last as long as the club..!

What's the point of getting a new manager in when it seems we are about a week off administration?

I just hope that Wotte is temporary. What we need is someone who can get the players playing hard, to get us out of the mess we are in - and I'm not convinced that playing pretty Total Football will do. Someone with experience of relegation battles, can't think of anyone at present 'though I'm sure there are unemployed managers out there who can do the job.

This is just shuffling the deckchairs on the Titanic. Seeing Lowe has people constantly monitoring the media, doesn't he realise what everyone would think of this appointment?

How many more times is he going to appoint a coach from within before he realises that it doesn't work? For God's sake, even some of his family who own shares must be realising that he's not up to the job?

It's obviously happened now because he is trying to deflect the blame away from himself - the easy option, sack the manager - he really must think that we are that stupid.

WOTTE THE F U C K how is this going to help I just can't see this making things better I thought the Dutch duo came as a pair and in my book should leave as a pair another cheap option for me hope I am wrong I want Saints to survive more than I want Wupert out but can't see this being the answer.

One rumour flying around SkySports offices is that Alan Pardew is in the frame to take over.

However, this is JUST A RUMOUR and I am not ITK about this one.

Having said that, after hearing Poortvliet had 'stepped down', I'm not at all surprised that Wotte could be/is in charge.

A mate of mine is mates with Pardew, I will make some enquiries, but very much doubt it

Typical Lowe appointment. We will never do a Leeds! NOT!

Don't forget Lowe's 1997 classic at a fan forum "we could be bigger than Manchester United". Right now, the fans' club, FC Manchester are whatever it's called, has more prospects!

Hmm. one word for this appointment:

****.

Lowe had the chance to bring someone in who could get the fans back on his side. He just ****ed up big time.

LOWE OUT

Lets just wait and see. Hopefully we will get someone else in, not that it will matter because protests will continue as long as Lowe stays.

As I said on the 'Crisis Meeting' thread, Lowe had the perfect opportunity to deflect attention and buy himself more time by appointing a PROPER manager. Now we have this, which in my opinion is worse than the 'do nothing' policy, most of us assumed he'd adopted.

Posted

On the face of it, Lowe has once again made a fantastically poor choice when he had a chance to really get it right. Like Leon got it right in the nick of time with Pearson's appointment. This decision though will see us into League One and possible administration IMO.

UNLESS! Perhaps - just perhaps - Lowe is appointing Wotte as Head Coach and then appointing a proper Manager with some experience like Pardew or Dowie. Now that would make some sense, but I am not holding my breath on that one.

I doubt it too, but just for interests sake I believe Pardew is a bit of a devotee of the modern sports science approach to football and that SCW visited him at West Ham as part of his learning tour.

I seem to recall that SCW spoke highly of him and his methods, and this viewpoint would no doubt have been passed on to Rupert. Possible connection therefore, but knowing Lowe he will stick with Wotte until the bailiffs come calling. After all the OS has announced Wotte's coaching staff already.

Hope to God mondays presser brings better news, like a proper manager for example, but can't see it happening somehow. So, on with the protests it is then.....

We might get relegated again, but no, we won't be "doing a Leeds", unless I missed the massive spending and champion's league football??

Well, you missed the champions league football. Would have been worth the gamble though considering what we are embarking on. At least Leeds had that time, that glorious time. What do we have? A tepid cup final and a still born european campaign, bra-sodding-vo.

Pardew has just built a new house so wouldn't go to a club too far away, I believe the house is south M25 area.

Interesting Lowe connection but lets just hope it isn't going to be Lowe doing the appointing!

I believe Fulthorpe was in a meeting this morning at SMS regarding the appointment of the manager, why that would be I don't know?

Why was there a meeting after they had already appointed the manager and why would he be invited!!??? God this has been a confusing day!!!

So, nothing has changed at all, we will still be playing kissy-kissy ball and running around like headless chicken Dutch-style.

We are most certainly further up sh*t* creek than anybody imagined and the tide has gone out so there's no way back.

It does seem a strange decision but people wrote similar stuff when Strachan was appointed.

Not really a very valid comparison. Although I was one of the doubters myself, I realise that there were extenuating circumstances surrounding Coventry's relegation, notably that their Chairman, rather like our very own dear Rupert, had forced him to sell any player that looked half decent. At the time of their relegation, you could make up a very creditable team of those players he was forced to sell and that team would probably have been sufficiently good to have maintained a Premiership place in its own right.

But as with Pearson, who also had his share of doubters when appointed, he soon demonstrated that he was capable of motivating a demoralised squad and increasing their levels of fitness.

But both of them have a very strong advantage over both Wotte and Poortvliet; both were very experienced with football in this country and at this level. It has become obvious that Poortvliet has not been able to motivate the team, nor has the squad been notably fit either. But JP 's biggest failing was his naivety about how to play a team to maximum advantage in this league and lack of knowledge about the signings that might have made a difference.

What is there to suggest that Wotte will have these abilities if he was brought in as Poortvliet's subordinate? Nothing.

Lowe is a total idiot and I hope that this major error of judgment will be the final straw that unites the fan base into action that continues until we get rid of him and his cronies for good. If that means administration, then so be it; I'm almost past caring.

I have no idea as I have not seen one of his teams play yet - not even for five minutes. Is it alright to see the team in action under his guidance before I write him off as a coach?

What we need above all else is more bums on seats at St. Marys. Does anybody think that Wotte is going to achieve that?
