If you can't tell from a picture even if they tell you, then how do you know that Samantha Morris is a woman?

Some sex offenders and male, some are female and some are trans - we all know that. The only reason I can see why someone would choose to share a link to a sex offenders story on a LGBT History Month thread is to feed the narrative that trans gender people are in some way perverts. Just like the Daily Mail seem to do.

Hi @aintforever you seem to have missed my post. I showed you a picture of an individual and asked you that if they claimed to be a female if that makes them female. You said you can't tell from a picture if they just say they are and I was pointing that you were happy to take the word of the person in the Echo with the female penis. How is this different?

I couldn't give a monkeys what she called her/him/itself, I was just using she because that is what the article used.

She/He/whatever is just a sex offender, whatever pronouns is used doesn't change that.

You said "she's a trans woman". How are we to know that they are in fact a woman simply because some Daily Mail type headline tells us so in the Echo? On one side we have some reporter referring to the individual as she but on the other we have the revelation that this person was waving "her" penis about in their window. You're suggesting that reporters have an agenda for reporting this yet you accept unquestionably the reporter's assertion that this is a woman when you can't accept that same statement for another individual when I show you their picture and tell you that they consider themselves to be a trans woman. Seems like rather a double standard to me and you seem confused. 

What is the difference between a "trans woman" with a penis and a man in your view?

I'm confused?! You are the one getting all hung up on pronouns.

The point I originally made was about conflating trans people with sex offending, a bit like what the Daily Mail seems to do. Many people don't know a trans person so if all they ever read about trans people is related to sex offending it is no wonder there is a problem with transphobia.

Challenging the use of the phrase "her penis" doesn't make me confused in the slightest anymore than questioning if someone pointed at a tree and called it a camel. Presumably you'd then accuse me of getting all hung up on nouns. 

My point had nothing to do with equating so called trans people with sex offenders, it was the idea that someone can have a penis and be a woman. Although it is interesting that whilst it is completely untrue to say that all trans people are perverted weirdos, a statistically significant number of perverted weirdos do claim to be trans.

"They" may well have. I didn't. I think gays are great. One of my best friends is extremely gay and he has the best fashion sense you could ever hope for. Top quality dresser.
