Maybe something to lighten the mood after the last couple of games.....Moving house means I’ve been up in my loft today and dug this beauty out.  I think it’s the 78/79 squad, certainly looks to be the only season Osher Williams played for us, and yes, I had to look him up! Looks like Alan Balls signature on the bottom of the same panel, so 3 Saints managers signatures on it in total, perhaps. I believe this was won in a raffle at Fawley  Falcons in that season.

Notice Manny Andruzeski and John McGrath in the first one. McGrath did well to get his name on the same panel as Manny.

Interesting that in those days the players took the time to actually sign/write their names. When my son was collecting autographs 2005-11 most players gave a couple of lines of a squiggle and a squad number as a clue.

I also see Austin Hayes, Terry Curran, Malcolm Waldron, Forbes Phillipson-Masters, Peter Wells, George Shipley, Nick Holmes, Phil Boyer, Ivan Golac, Trevor Hebbard, Charlie George, Terry Gennoe, Dave Puckett, Tony Sealey?

A couple I don't recognise....

...also looks like Tim Coak, maybe Davey Peach - would imagine Tony Funnell could be on there somewhere but doesn't look obvious.

Incidentally, an anagram of Forbes Phillipson Masters is 'lesbians shoplifters romp'. Just thought I'd mention it.

Hey, I'll remember that, you never know when it might come up in a pub quiz, or on The Chase.

"Which former Southampton and Plymouth Argyle footballers name is an anagram of ... "

I bet that question's come up a few times :)

Some of those signatures have been bugging me, particularly the one that was clearly saying Paul (couldn't make out the surname). I've just looked at the official team photo for 78/79 and it includes someone called (surname only) Arnold, I reckon that's him.

Other names from that season's photo (not mentioned above) include: Ted MacDougal, Mike Pickering, Pratt, Sharpe, Neville, Dawtry.

The 79/80 team pic includes someone called O'Donoghue, strange one, can never remember him making an appearance, but certainly one of the signatures on the ball.

You selling it Vince? PM if so.

Not right now, but if that changes, I'll bear you in mind, fella.

I've added names to the ones identified in the original post, there's a couple that might have been mentioned that I don't recognise left.

Paul Arnold - good spot alehouseboys, found him on here - https://www.saintsplayers.co.uk/blog/the-nearly-man/ an interesting story.  Maybe O'Donoghue is in a similar category, neither are listed in my copy of "All The Saints" so he can't have made a first team appearance either.
