tommi Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 Sad really, Poortvliet was a top bloke, with a genuine approach, as seen in visits to pubs. A real shame that things never went right for him, no chance of Wotte turning things around, now lets see how much responsibility Lowe takes for this appointment in the continuing soap opera. I agree, 100% percent.. Jan or whoever doesn't stand a chance with what they have to work woth, i genuinely feel for him tonight, and believe it or not hope he stays on and coaches the youngsters in some form or another. As for what's next, i'm concerned that our options are cheap, cheaper or cheapest. I'm really not sure of Wotte, I just hope his stay as Head Coach is temporary... Chez Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 with the **** players we have at the moment (presuming he was not responsible for signing them) Jan didn't have a chance. Saying that he still made some errors with those left at his disposal. I don't expect Wotte to turn things round, but at least Lowe has given him time to buy/loan players should that be possible. John B Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 I had hoped that the Dutch experiment was going to work, but Jan was right to leave, do you think new coach already lined up. Probably if we stay up and dont go into administration. Without knowing the exact financial situation it is very difficult to say whether the present direction is the only one possible. Dark Munster Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 Portvliet = Sturrock Wotte = Wigley Will this **** never learn. Much depends on whether (for the 3rd time) he's going to make the same mistake again, or if Wotte is just a caretaker, before getting someone more suited to the job steps in. We wait in vain... That's rather unfair on Luggy. It should be... Pearson = Sturrock Poortvliet = Wigley Wotte = Saggy Chops Relegation = Relegation
Fowllyd Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 Am I the only one seeing this? Look at what the OS statement says: "Mark Wotte has been asked by the Board to take over as Head Coach" (The OS) Where is the ambiguity (or the hope!)? He is a permanent successor. The moving of the deckchairs on the White Star Lines ocean vessel has begun... No, you're not. That's exactly the way I read it too. And it's exactly what many people thought would happen if Poortvliet went. Plus ca change, eh... Be there at the Bargate next Saturday or be f*cking nowhere. John Smith Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 To all of you that think that they can forgive Lowe because he is the man to bring stability to this club, I say Thankyou. Thankyou for continually supporting this man that is the sole destroyer of this club. Wake up you fools! Do something about it! because I'm starting to think that you don;t really care! He's done it before, he's doing it now, he'll do it again. How many more times do you need to bend over, stop taking it, stand up for yourselves. I repeat myself for the umpteenth time this season 'the shareholders voted him in, BUT, it is the paying public that continue to give this man the MANDATE to rule, without that mandate, he has to go' It's up to you sympathisers now! You;re the only ones keeping him here. And if you continue to allow him to do this, then you;re welcome to each other. In two more seasons, you can all sit in his garden, whilst paying for the priviledge, holding a midnight vigile, because you won;t have a club to pay homage to your Lord and master. Makes me sick! glkdcdes Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 The only possible reason that Wotte would be appointed permanently is that Lowe knows hes not here much longer so is getting his revenge in to us supporters or Administration is round the corner. Trumush Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 Jan = nice bloke, shat upon. Wotte = looks like the smarmy bastard you would not buy a used used car from, and a psychophant who has pandered to keeping in touch with Rupert for two years since he was originally overlooked for the top job.IF he was the capable one he should have been appointed rather than JP. THE CLUB'S MANAGEMENT IS ROTTEN TO THE CORE. You beat me to it.If Wotte has been in the background all this time why did Rupes appoint JP instead of him.Makes no sense, mind you little does at SMS these days. chi saint Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 Well this is it, the decision on whom to appoint will be IMO the most important in the past decade. ART Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 Jan will have resigned because he's been told players have got to be sold and he wouldn't be allowed to bring in any new ones. It's absolutely disgusting and you couldn't make it up, or the timing. Titanic is well and truly doomed, split in two with one end going down in one direction and the other end going down in the other. Is there just a slight hope that Wotte wll turn down the Boards offer to take over, that it's all part and parcel of Lowe's saving face and offloading all the Dutch contingent? What is there left to support? I came into the world when Saints were in the lower leagues and looks like that's where they're returning to see me out of this world. Odiham saint Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 I know a lot of people will disagree with me here but I'm actually quite annoyed Poortvliet has gone! Just look at where all this trouble has come from. Changing manager season after season and where has it got us? On the cusp of League 1 that's where. I'm only 17 but even I know that if a football club wants to succeed then it needs sustainabilty. Just look at Mclaren and Southgate at Middlesborough (who will stay up) Wenger at Arsenal, Ferguson at Man Utd, Mourinho at Porto, Ancelotti at AC Milan, Curbs at Charlton, Benitez at Liverpool, even Capello at Juventus. We are currently studying tourism at the moment in A2 Geography looking at Eco-Tourism and SUSTAINABLE Tourism and this ISN'T achieved by changing hotels, souvenir shops, resteraunts and activities around each year. I for one am getting very p***** off with Lowe's constant chopping and changing of managers in mid-season rather than his actuall opinions, ok you appointed Poortvliet...but stick with him! Ok last year changing the manager worked, but who was Chairman then, Crouch, and he knew what he was doing and that wasn't changing the manager, that was because Burley's country came calling (for once not our fault he left). I believe even with him in charge we'd have stayed up last season. Whether the manager is from England, France, Germany, Japan, Holland or even Timbuktu they need a loyal chairman who gives them support. Not LOWE. I'd love it if Steve Gibson was our chairman, best in the country by a mile! What's this now, facing our 8th manager in 5 years? First Strachan (where it all began), then Harry the Skate, then Basset and Wise, then Burley, then Dodd and Gorman, then the 2 P's, Pearson and Poorvliet, and now Wotte! When will Lowe learn that this isn't his place, club, stadium, sport or even country to be involved with. He needs a brain operation and unless someone like Pearson is appointed quickly we are down by Easter in my opinion.... if not before! Point made! Big Ron fan Posted 23 January, 2009 Share Posted 23 January, 2009 That's rather unfair on Luggy. It should be... Pearson = Sturrock Poortvliet = Wigley Wotte = Saggy Chops Relegation = Relegation Agreed - the right anology! Sad to say that I predicted relegation the day Sturrock was replaced by Wigley, and did so again last summer when Pearson was replaced by JP. As I also said at the end of last season, the protests should have been happening at that time to try to keep Lowe out, not wait until he has again ****ed everything up again with his arrogance, stupidity and lack of football knowledge.
