stevegrant Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 What strange timing. Not sure whether I'm disappointed, relieved, happy, indifferent or what, to be honest.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Good. Now lets get rid of Wotte and all the other Dutch people Lowe brought in. Then we can get rid of Lowe.
Charlie Wayman Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Not before time but when will Lowe follow him? The only way is up!
Bourno Posted 23 January, 2009 Author Posted 23 January, 2009 Shame this didn't happen last Sunday. But pleased it has happened. I hope that Wotte is not the long term sucessor, we need a proper manager to get us out of this (just like Pearson did last year!!)
Toomer Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Well that was a surprise, nice man but not up to the job now get someone in who knows the CCC Lowe.
Jesus Reigned Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 It doesn't say that he's left the club, so maybe he's staying on the coaching staff but just not as Head Coach?
InvictaSaint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 But it says that Wotte has taken over as Head Coach, and nothing about it being temporary. So one joker for another.
Croydon Saint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Statement is slightly vague- the club has asked Wotte to be head coach. Does that mean interim/permanent? Please just admit the experiment has failed and do the honorable thing and go Lowe
forever a red and white Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 suprised why didn;t this happen after the meeting pushed or choice? wotte now then, we must use this opportunity to get an experienced manager in
Charlie Wayman Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Who can we afford that could save us from the drop.. Curbs? We want curbs!
St Will Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 I was delighted until I read that Wotte has been asked to take charge. Just can't see things being any better. Hope it's a temporary thing. Either way I hope things improve, and fast.
forever a red and white Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 wotte must be a temp not permanent surely?
InvictaSaint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 After guiding a strong reserve side to a 2-1 defeat against mighty Millwall, Wotte certainly seems the ideal man for the job.... :-(
Croydon Saint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 SSN says Wotte will take charge for Norwich...but no indication of being permanent
adysaint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Seems a bit mad - not exactly a regime change is it? Is Jan staying with the club? Almost as if he has said: "Go on then - you pick the team..."
saint_bert Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Those who intended to protest, must continue. One down two to go Lowe and Wilde out
paulwantsapint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 LOWE FOLLOW JP's example not sad to see JP go he seemed a nice bloke but nice isnt what we need SG & SW were both nice good blokes as was IB so i'm told Now lets apoint a MANAGER 1st thing monday
Saf... Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Obviously pushed by Lowe. JP surely wouldn't just quit the biggest and best job of his lifetime without being forced out. ****ing hell.
Ewell Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 You Wotte, you wotte, you wotte, you wotte, you wotte!
InvictaSaint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 (edited) "Mark Wotte has been asked by the Board to take over as Head Coach" (The OS) Sounds permanent to me. Yippee. Edited 23 January, 2009 by InvictaSaint
mulletsaint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Nothing to say he's left the club, only his post as head coach. Maybe he and Wotte have swapped?
Mr X Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Didn't he just the other day say he wouldn't be quitting?
Dark Munster Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 wotte must be a temp not permanent surely? Indeed. Didn't some of our Dutch friends warn us before the season started that Wotte was even worse than Jan? If so, out of the frying pan and into the fire.....
CanadaSaint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Resignation, eh? So there's probably a Non Disclosure Agreement then to protect Rupert from true stories. God, we've signed more NDAs than players in the past five years.
sfc6mufc3 Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 in my opinion they will stick with woote to avoid paying money. I can't help feeling Pootaloo was objecting to players being sold so his hand was forced. just my opinion. I fear players now to go and league 1 coming
saint lard Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Lowe must of pushed him,but this way Lowe saves face...just a tad anyway
Paul Chuckle Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Seems to me that Wotte is permanant successor
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 If Wotte gets the job full-time it will be an even worse scenario than JP. He is despised by the players and has alleged serious personal flaws from what I am hearing from those in a position to know.
Badger Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 I feel no animosity towards Jan Poortvliet who I regard as a good and honest man.He was just put into an impossible position by an absolute c^nt of a chairman. So Rupert, your experiment and dalliance with a revolutionary set up has failed, why don't you just f^ck off and die ?
adysaint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Probably also noticed the Norwich and Forest results of getting a new manager in. Except our new manager isnt new and we are the only club in the world where the "New Manager" effect doesn't work. Jones, Merrington, Sourness, WGS, Burley, Redknapp and Pearson did not win their first games
saint_stevo Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Cheap option again eh..... But he can't do any worse eh
supaimpy_returns Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Yet another appointment from within !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wasn't Wotte the target of L*** originaly? We need a wholesale change not tinkering, Wotte if he has any sense will see it as only temporary and tell the board he won't take the postition full time and will only keep the seat warm. Or will this mean that theres now a vacancy for another Dutch man to move into SMS? If Wotte is so good why was he not influencing Jan with tactics and team selection? Was Wotte the iron man of the coaching team ? Who took the roles of 'Good Cop and Bad Cop'? Seems to me we're in even deeper now and all we can hope is that Wotte tells them he's a stop gap only.
Minty Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Can't say this makes me happy... and I don't mean that I wanted him to stay or thought he was doing a good job necessarily, just that it's yet another managerial change, and another failure that our club and us fans, have had to endure.
Bourno Posted 23 January, 2009 Author Posted 23 January, 2009 Seems to me that Wotte is permanant successor Wotte OUT!!!!
lordswoodsaints Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 funny timing but the right decision.....it has been coming.
Arizona Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Wow. Not a moment too soon, but I didn't think it was ever going to happen. It is vital we get an experienced CCC head to replace him who can get the best out of what we have. There are a few quality players in the squad, but Jan hasn't got the best from them. Totaal Voetball!!
Saints67 Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Have they just swapped roles? Wotte head coach and Jan now Reserve team coach? Anyhoo lets hope we have the new manager effect against a team......... with a new manager.
Norm Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Nice man, shame it did not work out. Thanks Jan, safe journey. ps, before we all jump in with both feet and destroy his name, remember that he is not fully to blame for our mess. He was offered the job, took it and failed. We would have taken it, if offered. My point, he should NOT have been offered it in the first place!
Croydon Saint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Timing is no surprise at all. The question is, will there be more change and what will be said at the press conference on Monday. Will be an interesting one
ladysaint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Sounds like a game of musical chaurs to me. JP was a lovely guy but did not have the experience to lead us out of the wilderness.
saint_bert Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 I think the board have obviously heard about the planned demos and tried to take the sting out of the situation Sorry Jan your the fall guy, to Wooperts little experiment
InvictaSaint Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Am I the only one seeing this? Look at what the OS statement says: "Mark Wotte has been asked by the Board to take over as Head Coach" (The OS) Where is the ambiguity (or the hope!)? He is a permanent successor. The moving of the deckchairs on the White Star Lines ocean vessel has begun...
saint_stevo Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Well we were going to get Wotte as manager pre-Burley We shall see
saints_is_the_south Posted 23 January, 2009 Posted 23 January, 2009 Those who intended to protest, must continue. One down two to go Lowe and Wilde out +1! Weird timing i have to say, would have thought he would have done it either straight after Doncaster or after the meeting! Aslong as Wotte is only in charge for 1 game & we get a proper game in after that then fine. Feel slightly sorry for Jan, seemed a decent bloke but well out of his depth in England, let alone the Championship. Now Lowe & Wilde must follow Jan out of the club!
