The players cannot believe it.

There was no intention to foul the player. He was pulling out.

It's debateable if he even touched him.

So he is sent of because there was, apparently, no intent to play the ball.

Had he instead decided to completely clatter through Martial , he would have stayed on? Is that really the rule?

It's all a load of waffle.

Difference between this and the Leicester game is that we didn't throw in the towel at half time. Small consolations

Yes, players have given it their all.

I think we'll struggle to come back from this confidence wise.

massive fucking dive, never a red, Mike Dean is a cunt, but did they even give him that camera angle that showed Bednarek tried his best to get out the way?

Yes. Stupid isn’t it.

I hate Ferguson who is commentating. He seems to think I am interested in how many years it is since Untired scored 5, 6, 7, 8. I don't. As for Mike Dean I knew he would give the penalty and red card. Right up his street.

We had worse and we came back stronger.

We're better than this. We've just been dealt every single shit bit of luck you can get. There's very little else which could go wrong in a game of football.

Mike Dean can fuck off as far as I am concerned. He's such a self-important, officious prick who always, and I mean ALWAYS, tries to make himself the star of the show.

Edit: ok that was a bit harsh.

Ralph looks distraught. Wouldn't be surprised if he walked

Wouldn't blame him if he was onto to his agent and asking to get him a club that actually backs him.

There is nothing wrong with the concept of var........its the pricks Mason and Dean that actually look through and give these decisions ! Absolute disgusting mistakes  made by these two in the last 2 games......just  fuelled by their own egos .....They should both resign !   I

Given how shit VAR is used, I imagine we will appeal the Jan card and it will get overturned.

I think it will be overturned - is there a way Martial can get a retrospective yellow?  It has to be appealed.  A nauseating night, but nothing like the Leicester match.  Decimated squad; two red cards; every decision going against Saints......should have had two goals of our own.      Move on.

Different scenarios, but perfect example of a big club getting a contentious penalty, while we don't get a seemingly concrete one against Aston Villa in the previous match. Hopefully able to appeal Bednarek's red card. They should change that rule, like they have changed every other rule that a team has kicked up a fuss about so far this season. E.g. the handballs at the beginning of the season and the offside rule that came into play after the Mings and Smith debacle.

The whole concept of VAR is wrong. It cannot be accurate for such close borderline decisions. Huddle raised the point about the timing of the ball being hit being vague and both he and Ferdinand say that for any defender in the future the decision will be to clear the player out rather than get sent off for trying to avoid him.

I know a lot will be made of VAR, which is right as it's absolutely fucking shit in it's current incarnation and used incredibly badly....but once again, we didn't do ourselves any favours with our defending.

I will say the same as I did after the Leicester game, no professional outfit should ever lose 9-0, you do whatever it is you have to do to keep that score line under control. Not sure how we let that happen again tbh.

I really, really feel for Ralph. He's worked absolute wonders here, absolute miracles. He got this lot top FFS! That deserves a medal in it's self.

But the truth is that he hasn't been backed, he hasn't been provided with the tools that would ever enable him to do what he needs to do. He may well be looking at it and thinking it's best to jump before his rep gets ruined here.
