With Ings off form we don’t have anyone who can score a goal (or two). Maybe Stu, but the likes of Walcott and Redmond are so utterly wasteful when in on goal. Doubt we get back into this.

Can’t help but think we need Adams, not Walcott, and that this is a bad tactical decision from Ralph. Not least because he’s be fired up as an ex Brum player

Easy goal for Villa. Move into space, receive the ball, cross it quickly and hey presto.

Saints need to find a cutting edge in attack quickly. The slow build up isn't working.

Just like to post again on a new page so everyone can see...this was given as offside for the pass from Armstrong to Walcott.

Are you sure it wasn't for the previous ball to Stu?

We have too many players that are decent enough but play it so utterly safe 90% of the time, the moment they do try something it’s a poor pass or decision. Unless JWP gets a free kick or two in his office then we’re losing this one.

We've played alright, but we just don't have that quality up front at the moment. It dies in and around the final third after what is good build up through the lines.

Not getting the rub of the green or that bit of luck anymore either, season has flipped on it's head. It was always going to happen eventually (After 40 or so games of consistent form) but it's still frustrating.

I actually find us pretty boring to watch at the mo.  Sure, nice football in the back 3rd/middle 3rd

too boring and safe up top. We slow the ball down way too much in their half and allow the oppo to defend the width of their 18 yard box.

hopefully the team can turn it around

Tbh I think he is playing OK, what I have noticed is that he will pass and then go on a run into a dangerous position but does not get the ball back. Also think Diallo and JWP should swap positions.

For all our possession we created the square root of nothing.  Villa were woeful in that half as well,  they can only be better in the second.  I have absolutely zero confidence that we have the balls to get back into this.  Another loss coming up, our early season form has saved us this season.  We'll limp over in 14th or 15th.

There it is, statues ball watching. Ffs!

It was JWP’s error that led to goal. I won’t say “fault” because he’s playing out of position, but a proper full back wouldn’t have let Grealish get in behind so easily

We're too nice. No-one in the face of the referee at half time to berate the penalty decision

They haven’t seen reply’s . If it goes to VAR they’ll assume he’s made the right decision.

My last post for the day, so hopefully the team can turn it around

We're very Brighton-esque at the moment.

We're very boring to watch. Deservedly losing because we've created fuck all whereas they've created 3 decent chances and taken 1.

Redmond kills every attack, hes too slow. He had the chance to play a simple pass to Ings who was in on goal just before half time but nah, he decides to shoot and kill another attack.

Really poor defending for the goal, by everyone.

Dean will get away without the level of scrutiny for that appalling and incompetent mistake as it’s a late kick off between mid table sides but he has long form for being allowed nowhere near a professional football pitch

Ralph needs to hammer Dean for this and if SFC has the courage to ban Dean from all matches involving us, other clubs will follow eg Arsenal, Man U.

You know that if he’s going to be involved there is going to be a controversial moment, it happens too often for it not to be deliberate.

For the Villa goal I thought McCarthy's reflexes were very slow for a Premier League goalkeeper. Any other goalkeeper would have just stuck his right arm out and saved that. It came at a perfect height for him to save.

Holy shit, you're right. Not even close. I wasn't really paying attention at the time so assumed that was why.

What the hell has the lino seen there then? And why did he not follow the guidance of letting play on before raising his flag?

Something is very wrong here.

Mate if you find us boring to watch, what the hell did you think of the Puel/Pellegrino years FFS?

I’m enjoying watching us more then I have in years - we just can’t buy a goal at the moment and we need Ings to step up.

Possibly the best we've played in a month - but still much the same outcome: loads of possession, no goal threat, and every promising opening ruined by a poor touch/pass/decision.

And then hit with the classic sucker punch, defenders marking thin air.

Given that we're always worse in the second half, this is probably game over already.

Robbed of a penalty, of course, but we've been on the lucky side of those calls this season too. We can't blame that for our impotence going forward or inability to defend.

Not sure how we turn this round - or the run we're on. Man United up next.
