Here we go again fs. Been solid since hes come in, gets turned by a good player for a goal and hes not PL quality anymore. Have a day off would ya

Totally agree. Three clean sheets before this game (including Liverpool). We concede a goal (it happens in football you know) and people can't wait to start slating individuals. The negativity on here is unbelievable sometimes. Imagine if we were having a shit season!

You can't blame McCarthy for that. It was absolutely smashed at point blank range. 99 times out of 100 it misses, but if it's on target, no chance

Exactly this. The power he put into that gave Macca no chance to react. It had to be perfectly hit to score from there, and it was. No keeper gonna save that.

There are some cocks on here who blame Stephens even when he's not on the pitch. He did get turned a bit easily, but in his defence he should not have been put in that position, Diallo was so clearly fouled. Thought actually Madison did ever so well to score that.

You know, like every Premier League club, Leicester analyse opposition players' weak points and Maddison would have been made aware of McCarthy's tendency to crouch down at the near post, which is why he was able to fire his shot off so quickly.

No, but it’s his fault he can’t defend leading to said shot.

As said before, not premier league quality.

He's just been part of a defence keeping 3 clean sheets in a row including one against the Champions. He's not as good as Vestergaard but neither is he as bad as people seem to like to make out.

It wasn’t really that much of a foul though.

The 'level' of the foul didn't really matter. A foul's a foul and if the ref didn't make an error the ensuing passage of play wouldn't have happened. I'd have been fuming if I was out there.

He practically handed West Ham a goal had it not been a fantastic save. Fulham and Liverpool were toothless. He makes a mistake a game and in the PL you cannot afford that. No other PL teams would take him. He’s a championship player.

whilst we’re at it, another highly overrated player, Walcott. Terrible in front of goal.

It’s incredible how far we’ve come in 15 months. Both teams were at a relatively similar level in 2016 but with a bit of luck and a decent goalscorer Leicester took the league.

Fast forward to October 2019 and the gulf was huge (not in the result but just where we were in the league).

Tonight though, with a fair few players out we look organised, strong, cohesive and are arguably the better side. Well done Southampton FC!

 Yeah, we've got a team of players that no other PL team would take, that also have top 6 form over the last 12 months.
