SKD Posted 29 December, 2020 Posted 29 December, 2020 Seems to have really gone off the boil to the point of Dejnepo and theo starting ahead of him. I wonder if he’s suffering longer term effects of covid?
Behind Enemy Lines Posted 29 December, 2020 Posted 29 December, 2020 I’ve thought the same for a while. Not so much the fitness, but maybe brain fog? His decision making seems way off pace for me.

pimpin4rizeal Posted 29 December, 2020 Posted 29 December, 2020 (edited) Bit harsh imo our good run was with him in the side. Him and Theo are our best number ten partnership., i thought he should have been introduced earlier today, was pretty clear djenepo was not cutting it. Last two games he hasn’t started 0 goals for us 🤔 Edited 29 December, 2020 by pimpin4rizeal
Tamesaint Posted 29 December, 2020 Posted 29 December, 2020 (edited) Thought that today he played well when he came on. Edited 29 December, 2020 by Tamesaint 2
Saint Garrett Posted 29 December, 2020 Posted 29 December, 2020 Been off the pace for a while. We need him back to the level pre-Covid, he’s so important to us. 1
OttawaSaint Posted 30 December, 2020 Posted 30 December, 2020 (edited) Would have preferred him to have come on for Adams with Theo moving up alongside Ings. He is a bit sloppy with the ball at times but his runs are incisive and he creates chances and chips in with goals. Edited 30 December, 2020 by OttawaSaint

Turkish Posted 1 January, 2021 Posted 1 January, 2021 Good news, I’m a big fan. We are a better team when he’s in it. 2
trousers Posted 1 January, 2021 Posted 1 January, 2021 Yep, good news. I don't have the relevant stats to hand, but I'm pretty sure our results are better when Armstrong is in the starting 11. (Can any stattos confirm?)
dronskisaint Posted 1 January, 2021 Posted 1 January, 2021 Very pleased - adds calm quality when he is playing...glad he has shown the commitment.
Saint Jude Posted 3 January, 2021 Posted 3 January, 2021 Don’ think it’s a coincidence that he’s not played well in last few games and overall team performance has gone a bit stagnant. We need him to get his touch and confidence back.
Hatch Posted 22 January, 2021 Posted 22 January, 2021 came across this while down a YouTube rabbit hole. 1

I really like Armstrong but he does get caught with the ball once too often, a charge that could be labelled at others as well, to be fair. That said, the way we are trying to play now will invite that risk. But i like the way he drives forward and is not afraid to shoot and score.

I think that's a tactic, he never did it that much under Hughes and Theo does it, they both do it a lot. Get the ball and drive forward up the pitch, if it comes off great if not it draws free kicks or we press high up the pitch to win the ball back early.

Turkish Posted 7 March, 2021 Posted 7 March, 2021 What a player he has turned into. Fantastic signing for £7m. 2
danjosaint Posted 7 March, 2021 Posted 7 March, 2021 (edited) This 100% also a really nice guy, met him on trip to Edinburgh 2yrs back when he was in and out of team, he had plenty of time to chat to me and daughter and because of that he is now daughters favourite player, but yes arguably one of our most important players , he seems to have it all for att mid, wherever he plays he drives us forward with his surging runs, good skill, can play a pass and decent shooting from in or out of box Edited 7 March, 2021 by danjosaint
spyinthesky Posted 7 March, 2021 Posted 7 March, 2021 I thought he looked a player in his first pre season game at SMS after signing from Celtic. In my opinion he then lost his way for a while and I assume this was due to a fitness thing and a rather powder puff approach to tackling. More recently he has become an integral part of the first team both with and against the ball and with an added bonus of being able to score from midfield. He has definitely turned into a positive signing. Well done Stuart!!

I used to think Steven Davis was the best bit of business for a UK player (sorry Verlaine) Saints ever did, but Armstrong might have him covered.
Wade Garrett Posted 7 March, 2021 Posted 7 March, 2021 Showing how good he is now. Fantastic player. Very forward thinking, one of the few players we have capable of dribbling past players and knows when to make a pass. 2
davefizzy14 Posted 7 March, 2021 Posted 7 March, 2021 Absolutely fantastic player. Stuart is the driving force in our team both with and against the ball. He was immense once again yesterday. Can score and create from anywhere 1
