Can't agree with you at all. Armstrong is the only player we have who can get between the lines consistently. Theo of course is now developing into that role well. As for resting Romeu, yes but not against ManC we need all the experience we can get. Daillo would flounder and that would not be good for us

Agreed re Armstrong. He plays his role well and is vital for us. What are you basing your opinion on Diallo on? It's equally possible that he'll thrive.

Same starting XI. keep with the plan. Look, we are underdogs for this one, but 6/1??? I just put £200 on. I think our chances to win are about 20% and to draw, maybe 25%.

Thanks. I agree entirely with you. I have had a much smaller bet at those odds.

I see that the bookies also have Palace at long odds (albeit shorter than us) to beat Liverpool .

Crazy odds.

I think you’ll see changes today and if not mistaken Ralph has hinted that Armstrong looked laboured Wednesday against Arsenal..I think you’ll see diallo get a full debut today but don’t know how Ralph will line us up against a city side desperate for a win..hope aguero doesn’t start

I think we'll see an attacking approach from city which could play into our hands. As you say city need a win so I can't believe they will be cautious. An early goal from us would be very disruptive to them and I suspect we'll see a bit more energy in the press from the start - which I agree probably means a rest for Armstrong.

I wonder if he might start Ings on the bench, bring Redmond or Djenepo in and put Theo through the middle then bring Danny on in the second half. It’s just his talk of “managing minutes” that makes me wonder.  He may drop Armstrong to the bench as he’s mentioned before about being careful with him due to his injury record.

I would go along with that. Seems like  a good ploy to me from what little I know from afar

It was reported Aguero had an injury/illness setback on Thursday. Can't see him playing a full game.

There is a very interesting piece on Saints in the Daily Telegraph sports section pages 10 and eleven. Elsewhere it's full of City stuff. If we beat them it will do wonders for Saints morale and  perhaps the media will take us seriously. Pep says Romeo is one of the best midfielders in the Prem.

I blimin' hope we don't get an early goal. Don't think my ticker could handle another 75 minutes of Man City onslaught, as per the game in July.

No, let's get to 85 minutes at 0-0 and then win the game with a JWP worldy free kick.

IMO, Armstrong is one of the players we miss the most when he's in form / fit.

He is sometimes rested though when we have these spells with lots of games so it's probably a case of rotation to avoid tiredness/injury rather than being dropped.

Surprised that it’s djenepo not Redmond starting for Armstrong.

Find it odd that we haven’t put a natural cb on the 9 man bench.

obafemi really gone down the pecking order. Interesting to see what happens with him in Jan.

Natural CB?

There’s two.

I like Armstrong but about time he was dropped, he's been pretty poor this season.

Djenepo is inconsistent but has the potential for a moment of magic, would be nice to see that today.

I don't think he's been poor. His running at defences is important. But he seems to me to be breathing hard and I'm not sure he's fully recovered from his Covid.

Hoping Liverpool go on to get three more (currently 7-0). It may stop commentators mentioning the 9.

Hopefully but I fear 'the 9' is gonna stick around unfortunately, the mighty scousers got dicked by Villa smashing in 7 but that's rarely mentioned.

Edit: Damn, just seen 0-7 is the final score, the 0-9 lives on.
