Lame thread which will look more lame as the months go on. We have a great chance of Europe this year which would be superb.

Happy with my reply.

Good to dream I guess.

as ridiculous as this looks then and now, the decline in our performances and results is utter staggering.

as individuals and a team we seem to have some highs and very lows. Need players form to dovetail really

This aged well. People get too carried away by the ups, and equally, too carried away by the downs.

Makes much more sense to look at things over a period. We're actually pretty bog standard mid-table averageness and it's a bit daft to expect anything more from this bunch.

Classic thread highlighting the highs and lows of a Saints fan. Lighthouse said early on that we were  'a 7-12th team, enjoying a period of good form'.  IMO we're now a 7-12th team suffering a period of poor form.  No excuses available for last night but for Feb and March we were victims of unprecedented injuries.  I'm not going to use VAR as an excuse because the poor use of VAR has now hit most teams. Last night aside there were signs of us getting some confidence and momentum back and I'm not going to totally dismiss that on the back of one really poor game.  Maybe they were distracted by the prospect of a big semi final appearance.

My point is that supporting Saints has always been an emotional roller coaster and this season has been no different.  When we look back on this season in a couple of years we'll hopefully not see it as a disaster.  We're not getting relegated (mid table still in our reach) and we are getting a Wembley appearance....       ....and there's still the 'stop the count T shirt' 😉

I’m starting to believe that premier league champions is beyond our grasp. Cue the bed wetter abuse.

To be honest I’m coming around to that hope for this season.

At the start of the season there was a thread on the expectations for the season, and 7th-12th or 8th-12th was the clear consensus then. Can't seem to find it but it would help a bit now, for perspective.

That 12th place trophy is still within our grasp.
