Interesting genetic trivia, Jewish people are more likely to carry genetic resistance to Bubonic Plague. As a consequence, in medieval times they tended to be blamed for outbreaks as they seemed not to catch it.

The towering intellectuals who came up with this seemed to have overlooked the fact that 3 million people were killed by the 1349 plague. That was half the population of Britain, and it took 200 years for the population to recover to the previous level. Because a tiny number of those victims were black women is not of course due to racism, more likely due to most of the population living in squalour in what was a strict feudal system with very limited freedom of movement. These people are mentally ill IMO.

You know the people saying it was racism are the people posting it here? The article is just presenting the facts.

Well done on your military service Ben but the reason they didn’t spot it is that the episode was filmed in March. To think that used to be John Major’s seat….

Laurence Fox, in his "I'm not a racist, but they are pedophiles" libel case claims that although he was earning over £500k a year for at least a decade, he has never bought a house, and now, since his agent has dumped him, he can't get a mortgage.

What was he spending his money on ?

What about this Cock womble. Lives in a country where 82% of the population are white. Works for a cooperation where only 48% of employees are white, yet is “uncomfortable with all the whiteness”. If you find a persons skin colour affecting your mental health, surely you are a racist.

This is what he said.

“It’s really affecting me that I walk in and all I see is white people”.

I used to listen to his bit with Martin Lewis, but he dumbed it down so much that I stopped listening. He’s a pretty shitty broadcaster, but that’s beside the point. If Nigel Farage said seeing black people affected him, the Wokies  would be going nuts.

This bloke is a racist, pure and simple, but the bbc will do fuck all about it. He should be sacked.

I hadn't seen that until you posted it. The BBC have to address racism whether it's anti-white or the other way. Imagine if a white person working at the BBC Asian network said the same in reverse. He's gotta go.

And his buddy Martin Lewis who is nearing Sainthood, there’s no doubt he’d stop appearing on the show had Gordon Smart (who is his stand in) said it about black people.

Maybe he dosen't get out of London much, only 5% of the UK population are black, what does he expect to see ? I wonder if those first pioneers stepping off the Empire Windrush were muttering about a few too many whites....

Imagibe going into work and worrying about the ethnicity of the people you work with and for. I've worked with some absolute pricks of all nationalities and some incredible people who are white, black and everything in between. What a sad life it must be to be affected by someone's skin colour to the extent that it makes you unhappy if they aren't the same shade as you.

If he'd have said he was concerned to enter a room of senior writers and not see any brown/black people, noone would have thought it racist, given that the applicant pool for media graduate jobs is around 20 percent black or brown, it is weird to have under 10 percent in the room.

Think he just didn't word it the right way round and offended some white dudes.

NA is not racist, he just thinks there is a discrimination problem in his profession. He has discussed it to great lengths on his show. Anyone who listens to his show regularly would know he is clearly not a racist. A bit of a soppy twat at times tho.

He works for an employer where 52% of the employees are non white, yet he’s “uncomfortable” coming to work with so many white faces. This is a country where 80% of people consider themselves white. You’re a hypocrite because if it was a white bloke saying it about brown faces you wouldn’t be defending him, and he would be off air by now. Defending him because he’s Asian, when you wouldn’t defend a white in the same circumstances is racist in itself.

And I did listen to his show (until his childish giggling and inane drivel finally had me reaching for the off button) and haven’t heard any racist comments, but I don’t think racists go round being racist 100% of the time, I imagine they hold down jobs by containing it at work. There’s absolutely no doubt what he said was racist, whether he hates white people I’ve no idea, perhaps  he should educate himself as these things shouldn’t be acceptable in 2023.

I’m just basing my opinion on what I have heard him say, I couldn’t give a monkeys what race he is.

He discusses issues around race on his show quite a lot and from I have heard him say he is very much the opposite of racist. The show where he discussed the people at his work was no different. He wasn’t talking about the whole BBC but just where he worked and his issue was as much about class as race. People getting opportunities based on their contacts and background, rich kids getting internships (who were mainly white) - which is why he commented on being surrounded by white people. He doesn’t hate white people, just the reasons he felt there is a lack of diversity. Wether that is true or not who knows, but that’s his reasons for saying it and given the nature of his previous shows I have no reason to doubt he is being genuine.

It wasn’t a “show” where he said these things, it was a conference where he gave a speech. A speech he’d probably written earlier, prepared throughly for and thought about for a long time. His direct quote wasn’t “I wish there was a more diverse work place”, it was “It’s really affecting me that I walk in and all I see is white people". Before adding that it depressed him and affected his mental health.

Of course you care what race he is. There’s no way on earth you’d have made excuses if Danny Baker or Ken Bruce said brown people in the work place were depressing them. You wouldn’t say “oh Ken can’t be a racist, he has non whites on pop master”. You’ll be telling us NA’ has white friends next.  He made a speech that was racist, pure and simple, and you’re defending it based on his colour and the fact he doesn’t say racist things on his radio show. :mcinnes:

He said pretty much those exact words on one of his radio 5 shows and discussed it with a guest. I remember thinking that you gammons wouldn’t like what he said about being surrounded by mainly white people.

What a load of old pony.

It’s the system that affects his mental health & makes him feel uncomfortable 😂. That’s why in a prepared speech he said  it was white people he was uncomfortable with.

Great to see your views though, constant as always. I clearly remember when you defended Nick Griffin when he said he felt uncomfortable with all those black people at the Notting Hill carnival. Turned out it was the system he was unhappy with.

From the show I listened to I got the impression he was fed up with being surrounded by Ruperts who got their opportunity by daddy funding their internship, or because they went to the right school or daddy knew someone on the board. Basically a lack of diversity in class and race.

The bloke is a right soppy sod who constantly speaks out against all forms of discrimination, you need to be thick as shit to think he just hates all white people (see above).

Is that a system?  If so, the BBC needs to seriously change its recruitment procedures.  I'm sure there is plenty of evidence that supports this theory of a 'system' in practice.

Should be easy to get this 'system' highlighted and changed, given the unique way the BBC is funded.
