I read it. TBH I can't say that I was that impressed. A bit patronising and not that well researched. JWP's last international cap came 4 years ago apparently whilst our team is a bit "long in the tooth."

Very interesting article and it gave me a real tingle of appreciation for what Ralph is achieving. One of the things that resonated with me was the section about Ralph orchestrating the tempo from his technical area. It's got me wondering whether the absence of crowd noise has made his input from the sidelines far more effective because the players can hear loud and clear what he is instructing them to do. I imagine with a full stadium most of his shouting is swallowed up by the noise of the fans.

That's pretty good (aside from the erroneous Spurs scoreline).

I liked this line "Don’t let schoolboy looks or genial off-field personalities create false illusions. Southampton are a battle-hardened side, able to take you into deep waters and eventually drown you".

I've read so many article about how Saints and Ralph are doing what they're doing I can't remember what was in which one. Plus it's made harder by the fact that I'm dyslexic!

What I do remember as I was reading it though was, some posters on here have written about how Ward-Prowse has found a nastier side to his game!

It was about 20 years ago at White Hart Lane. We were 2-1 up after half an hour.

I find a lot of that article to be pretty much rubbish tbh.

The saints side is "long in the tooth" - its one of the youngest sides in the league.... James Ward Prowse's last England cap came 3 years ago? No... Saints are perennial relegation candidates? - We've finished top 8 more than we've been in a relegation crap.

The Times really has let its standards drop.

Good read. Enjoyed the general tone of that, Spurs scoreline notwithstanding of course.

I recall reading the redcafe ManU forum after our 2-2 last season and a post asking..."when did Southampton turn into such a bastard side to play against". I like that, I like that a lot.

I know I can be as guilty as the next Saints fan for unashamedly wearing red and white spectacles - nothing there made me get anywhere near a smile. You sort of wonder whether he actually watched us play at all. I didn't have too much of a problem with the article, it was on the whole quite positive, until I read about Theo "it was a delight to watch him — back playing on the wing where he was born to play". Now I watched the match, and I got the impression that Walcott was playing through the middle behind Che, getting into the red zone as Ralph likes to call it, I don't recall him playing on the wing, unless he is referring to when KWP and Him stole the ball back from their defender to set up Adams' goal. It was in fact the first game where Walcott didn't play on the wing, but this tit thought otherwise, unless I am mistaken, and terminology these days means wingers are those who play through the middle.
