Unwilling...or under orders from Ralph not to try to play in a way that he's not built to play?

He's not unwilling. He's unable.

It's probably about knowing his limitations and being instructed to not commit himself forward too much.

He isn't comfortable at left back. Don't we have anyone else that can play there? Ralph will have picked up on it i think.

I thought we'd have Johnson or Ferry on the bench.

Could be 2 or 3 but I’m kind of glad it’s not, would rather us come out looking to kill the game than sit back and protect something.

That is never, ever a foul.

Alan Smith called it straight away with a growl - the centre forward union still there. Scharr got away with one. Good first half but gutted at Theo miss, certain it was going in. Theo lively, Djenepo very tidy, Stephens doing OK out of position, KWP very good game and Adams has the measure of their CBs. Armstrong and JWP our best players.

Che did not foul that centreback

Why do refs let clear offsides run their course ‘just in case’ but blow up for a 50/50 like that?!

Good performance. Lead feels a bit insecure though. Left side an obvious weakness, djenepo seems a bit cautious at times, wonder if it’s under instruction with the makeshift leftback.

real shame Walcott couldn’t bury that chance to make it 2 nil

Doing really well considering we are playing without a left hand side. Would rather Djenepo going for it and Stephens backing up. At present Djenepo plays backwards too often and Stephens just does not have the balance to do anything with it.

Djenepo is showing a great reluctance to take on his man and get to the bye-Line. Presumably under instructions not to in case he gets stopped and leaves Stephens vulnerable down our left flank?

Very likely. If we switch KWP to that side it would free up Djenepo more

Strange performance. Quite subdued and negative - yet we've made some decent chances.

Hope the team are just pacing themselves and they'll be a bit more urgent in the second half.

Absolutely not comfortable at 1-0.

Adams looks confident and bullish, Walcott has been decent but missed a great opportunity. Djenepo and Stephens down the left has no attacking threat. Some nice touches from Djenepo, but he doesn't want to drive forward.

Need the second.
