itchen Posted 2 November, 2020 Share Posted 2 November, 2020 Grealish. Great player. Gets fouled often. But not as often as he'd have you believe.

And not just offside either, half his body was clearly offside so any rewriting of the rules to allow people lean offside would be utterly nuts.

saint1977 Posted 2 November, 2020 Share Posted 2 November, 2020 Great win. Very good performance for 60 minutes, all 4 goals were crackers, great header by Vest, no one was stopping him or his header, two MLT fks to the JWP showcase and MOTM for me. Ings was best of the lot, unstoppable. Stu got a bit carried away for Mings’s goal and marked a spell where Saints stopped doing the basics for 30 minutes. Jan - who was doing much better until he had to go off - and Berty who has been in fine form - going off was disruptive but silly challenge for the pen. Grealish’s goal was a bit unlucky as big deflection and no chance for the keeper at all. Enjoying watching us since restart. Glad if Ings injury is minor but a yellow card for over using him and not using subs properly eg Everton and yesterday when game won. Needed to shore up the midfield far earlier yesterday. Ralph is doing an amazing job but that’s area for learning. Fantasy football went well - JWP, Ings, Grealish, Watkins (he and JWP are bargains), Walker, Wolves defenders, Werner. Got the WBA midfielder from W Ham to go tonight. JWP for just over £6m is ridiculous - skipper points and dead ball expertise. Werner replaced Antonio as another of my high performing FF bargains. derry Posted 2 November, 2020 Share Posted 2 November, 2020 (edited) Armstrong was an idiot, he'd won the ball and no passing options, so put it up into the back of the stand. Game then has to reset. Losing the ball was critical in the match and immediately led to a goal. Possession is great but not when it overcomes common sense. Any danger and no help forget possession immediately it's safety first and foremost. Grealish is a disgrace indulged by referees as he looks to go down with almost no excuse. I think its about time players realised he is going to get a foul so give him the foul but leave something for him to be wary of next time. the penalty was a con. I've looked at it so many times, he stabs the ball forward then makes no attempt to run and just immediately dives forward. The key is his other leg made no movement to continue running after stabbing the ball forward it stayed behind not moving as his torso dived. Gallagher did his usual, agree with the referee. Grealish is the biggest con man in football at the moment. Referees are conned time after time as players lean in and fall over. Well if it was the 18 yd line would it be a penalty if his feet were outside but half his body over the line ! They did say they were considering a bit more leeway for future VAR offsides . Adams was at the far post and not interfering with any defender or anybody's line of sight. Liverpool and others have had siimilar instances overlooked. If Adams had touched the ball then he would have been offside A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by: interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or interfering with an opponent by: preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or challenging an opponent for the ball or clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball

He reminds me of Beckham, not in the football ability sense, but in that he lets out a high pitched scream every time he gets tackled, or sometimes in anticipation of a tackle. In the Salah incident he even had time to plant his foot back on the ground before doing a swallow dive. Was he touched? Yeah, so what. Was he tripped? Never in a million years. That Grealish dive was ludicrous and the referee was in a very poor position to see it.

Millbrook Saint Posted 2 November, 2020 Share Posted 2 November, 2020 so what's with Tyrone Mings, did someone from Southampton shag his mother, last week he was slating the club and saying black players might not sign for us because we haven't signed up to this diversity initiative, though in the same article he admitted to not having read the Southampton statement as to why. This week he's saying going down 4-0 to Southampton shows there's a lot of work to do, as if villa are some high and mighty club who look down and scoff at us. Seems like this idiot has a bit of a chip on his shoulder

Although he probably hates us as we rejected him as a kid. I remember the old days when ex players would spend the whole game having "Southampton reject" chanted at the during the game, not giving them a standing ovation by the same fans who spend the entire game slagging off our own players. Seems like this idiot has a bit of a chip on his shoulder Mings was born in Bath, Avon to former non-League striker Adie Mings. Mings joined Southampton in 2001 as an eight-year-old, but was released in 2009 when the youth budget was axed. It's 11 years, Tyrone, move on! I don't think there's anything wrong with Mings thinking Villa have 'work to do' after their performance yesterday. I wasn't particularly bothered by anything he said about the diversity quota's either.
