Salisu still 'weeks away' apparently.

WTF is wrong with him? Had he never seen a football before he came here or something? What does he have to get used to that he didn't get in Spain?

We signed him back at the end of July (we delayed the announcement for 3 weeks for some reason) and he still hasn't played a min of first team or b team football. No media unveiling, no pictures of his first day etc - very much in the Trousers camp of this entire WTF situation.

RH seems ok with it

Isn't Ralph just very particular about the level of fitness and preparation the player have? If he had an injury or illness that basically kept him out of most of pre-season, then it would be understandable it would take him a while to get back to full fitness and Ralphs standards. Plus if it was an injury then they probably didn't want to rush him and risk aggravating it again for no reason when we have 3 fit centre-backs.

I think the point is that we simply don't know what the reason for his protracted introduction to the team and/or media is (as born out by the 'ifs' in your post, for example). No doubt its all perfectly innocent and understandable, and there may be some reasons of confidentiality that has led to media team refraining from their usual new signing exposure, but given there hasn't been any explanation (AFAIK) then its only natural that inquisitive folks such as myself will continue to ponder on why he's being treated differently to our other signings (from a publicity perspective at least).

In an ideal world, with Walcott going straight in, he would have had a week on the training field with all the first team, he's likely only trained with Ings, JWP, etc. yesterday. Tough place to start, and then drops straight back out again next week for the Everton match. Not expecting too much, a point today would be a very good result.

Would you not have signed Van Dijk if he’d been injured for 3 months at Celtic?

If the club were open with fans and came out and said "We've signed Salisu but be aware that he's got injury X and won't be fit until November, just in case you start to wonder what's occuring" at the outset then it would have nipped the uncertainty and questioning in the bud. To me, it's not an issue if Salisu came with a 3+ month injury, it's the absence of transparency that I find curious.

Going by the training gallery, he has been back for several weeks now and is apparently training hard to achieve match fitness. I think it’s as much a selection choice at the moment, whilst he learns our system to Ralph’s satisfaction.

Wouldn't he be on the bench if that were the case?

What is the point of  a medical prior to signing. If injured then negotiate a lower transfer fee.

Surprised no comment about Ing's goal for England

Clearly Ralph thinks Stephens and Vest are the better options right now.

To ensure there are no injuries likely to cause long term issues and prevent him from ever playing for us. I’m no doctor or physio but I’d imagine things like serious ligament damage, vision issues and heart murmurs are all checked for.

Not sure what you mean about Ings.

Download the universal TV app for your iPad or phone, has 4 or 5 good streams for every single sporting event. Thank me later

Not seeing anything other than an old Spanish app is that it ? Always nice to have a back up source !

I make it two of them starting.

Fair enough but KWP made his debut for us back in the days when you could sit next to someone on a bus, go to the cinema or lick a pub door handle if you wanted. So I don't think he quite counts.

Salisu not even on the bench...again. Why did we even sign him if he is not better than who we have or he is unable to play football?

He’s played against Real Madrid and Barcelona (Messi, Bale) and gave a good account of himself according to press reports but he can’t manage to play against Brighton or Fulham (arguably, the worst defensive team in the Premier League)

So infuriating. The Danso / Ralph effect. Why do we keep doing this? Makes absolutely no sense. We haven’t even properly announced the poor guy. Destroy his confidence before he has even set foot on a football pitch.

There may be some valid reason but since the club don’t communicate, how the hell are we meant to know and it’s happened time and time again. This has to change.

Any live links for the match today?

Excited to see Theo starting. I wasn’t sure about his signing at first but I think he’s got something to prove and he seems so so motivated being back at Southampton.

I’m very interested to see Diallo too. Wonder what he & Theo have that Salisu doesn’t?!

COME ON YOU SAINTS!! Shame I can’t watch the match despite all the subscriptions I paid for despite no income.
