We're run by a man who credits himself with Brentford's rise. What's worse is he's one of those guys who can't imagine doing things any differently to what he's done before, and he's prepared to break any system to suit the mould he wants. Saints were functioning well enough when they came in (given the lack of input under Goa), and had started to turn the transfer side of things around once Hassenhuttle and Semmens had full control in the past year or so. Yes we were losing pace with the league, but what do people expect with no investment compared to every other team? SR then came in, undermined the manager and dismantled the coaching setup, completely disrupted the backroom staff across basically the entire club (from the academy and scouting to the business and financial side), and then they spent over £160M reshaping the squad with players that either weren't needed/ready, or didn't fit... and in the middle of all that, they singularly failed to do the most important thing - which was to sign a bloody striker to replace the goals of Ings. How you can spend £160M on a side with a good manager that badly needed investment and it make them worse is beyond me... but thats SRs legacy - relegation.

The level of change they oversaw was a clear klaxon that they didn't know what they were doing, and that they were going to break everything to follow their incredibly arrogant and vain view that they were secret geniuses who were smarter than everyone else and who could do something new in football...

The grand summation of all that, is that Rasmus Ankerson has taken the club with the 11th highest cumulative prem points total, and turned them into a club shitter than Brentford (when he was there). Russel Martin is just the latest instalment of the man's ego project. And in terms of transfer policy this summer... No decent fullback cover, no depth at CDM, and still needing a proper goalscorer.

Great post, sums up Rasmus F*cking Ankersen and his SR clown show perfectly.

(I ported this quote over from the Blackburn match thread because I think it belongs here for posterity.)

5 games left and a 9 point buffer for the second automatic promotion place.

Dont be fooled by Giresunspor's points. they had two wins and 4 draws but have had 3 points deducted.

This summer, the directors of Sport Republic plan to organise a triangular pre-season tournament at Saint Mary's Stadium between Southampton FC / Göztepe Spor Kulübü and VAFC.

Confirmed by the CEO, with whom I had a few words during my visit to you at the beginning of April.

on Saturday 20th at 2pm Göztepe will be playing away at Giresunspor

A victory will mean automatic promotion to the Superlig is sealed.

Girsunspor are currently sat at the bottom of Lig 2 having scored 13 goals all season and picking up 1, yes ONE, point from their last 19 games.

They've spent a few ££ which I like, but need to stop trying to be so clever. TED-Talk boy isn't reinventing football.

I wonder what Dragan is thinking?

#playerinvestment company.

Player investment is going well for them!

I’ve said it before, fuck knows how Dragan made his fortune.  He’s a chump of an owner.

At the moment it could well be insurance fraud, like in the movie the Producers, only football. Here’s a pre-takeover pic of Dragan and Rasmus which should have raised suspicions:

Presumably covering the ‘how not to run a football club’ part of the course?

Or... maybe Rasmus has seen something in him, and he's being fast tracked to be our next manager.

(Another useful Masters initiative put together by University of Salford or Worcester no doubt...I'll await his questionnaire on here to find the 'fans views' ahead of his dissertation )

Excellent - the only 2 clubs run worse than us in the last 5 years are Everton and Man U. Let Everton have him.

Saint86 sums this lot up perfectly. What really grates is the way these people in sharp suits play with our club and treat it like a project. Sorry, Christophe, but I don't really care how Valencienne get on or whether Goztepe got promoted. In fact, driving up to Blackburn the other week, we got behind a Saints coach with a flag in the back window which had 'Saints on Tour' and the Goztepe emblem in one quarter!! Really?

Maybe I'm getting old, but I hark back to Ralph who really cared for the club. We're weren't some stepping stone to him (unlike Poch, Koeman), and he recognised these chancers for what they are as soon as they got in. He was too polite to say it direct, but his "I'll be here for only two more years" told us all we needed to know about SR.

Whilst I don't disagree that Ralph cared for the club, we absolutely were a stepping stone for him. He said as much in his inital interview - it just so happened that he never got in offer to move up the ladder.

Whilst I acknowledge there's probably no manager that sees any job as a permanent appointment, I'm more inclined to agree with the sentiment that Hassenhuttl saw Saints as a long term project rather than overtly as a "stepping stone".

I've just listened back at his initial interview (below) and there's nothing in there that even alludes to such thoughts.

My overriding impression with RH, especially in the first couple of years, is that he quickly saw Saints as "his" club and everything seemed geared towards a partnership of longevity (the so called Ralph 'playbook' underpinning that philosophy).

Anyway, all in the past now and we'll probably never know for sure what he perceived his career path to be upon joining us, and beyond.

Had high hopes when they took over but they've been an unmitigated disaster from day one with no signs that lessons are being learned. Rasmus is not even close to being as clever as he thinks he is which is a huge worry.  Hope we appoint a new DoF with a bit of nous and knowledge about the game and some new ideas.

Sure. What he should have said was "I'm here now lads, feet under the table, job for life, welcome to comfy street. Someone pass my slippers and pipe will you?".

Will Still will leave Reims at the end of the season. Does Rasmus have him on his excel spreadsheet I wonder? 🤔

Is he doing a good job at Reims? I know next to nothing about the French league and wonder what others think of the work Still is doing?
