Americans seem most likely currently given how many clubs are being brought by them.

would be nice to have someone who is happy to invest in the squad for now and progress, rather than trying to find gems to sell on for profits

Based on how shit his decision making has been so far, wouldn’t surprise me if this is true and he takes a huge loss.

Amazed this guy is a billionaire. Seems to be completely inept

Sport Republic have delivered the Greatest Era In Our History so I don’t really think they have anything else left to do.

Pretty sure this is nonsense. Wouldn't be surprised if we're open to an additional investor but selling at this point makes little sense

Solak three months ago: "I feel completely at home here and I'm as passionate as ever to make this successful, I will do everything possible. That's why I decided to assume the chairmanship, I show everybody that I'm going nowhere and will do everything to make it work."

As Saint Mikey said above though, everything is for sale at the right price and if someone really wanted us and made Dragan a great offer then he'd give it serious thought

The prospect of a change of ownership is scary and there’s no doubt that it would be terrible timing. We need solid foundations to rebuild right now. The idea of Spors coming in and turning things round is basically the only positive we have to cling to.

Usually I’d be scared at the prospect of it, but actually it’s hard to fathom how anyone could be worse than these utter helmets, so I’m actually indifferent to it.

Not good timing for a sale, just before a critical summer with a restructure, the appointment of a new manager and critical transfer dealings required.

Only positive is that nobody will pay £125 million for a club that stays in the Championship.

Thought we might be on the right track with Spors being brought in, Kraft out and Rasmus told to stay in Turkey.

Just another shit episode of a total shit show.

Personally I hope the rumours aren't true. Whilst SR have clearly made a lot of bad decisions, I do believe they at least have the interests of the club at heart and have certainly put their money where their mouth is.

Anyone who thinks it can't get any worse, it can. A lot worse.

I’d say be careful what you wish for. Yes, SR have overseen a terrible tenure, but at this point in time in a very uncertain economic marketplace / World any change now could very well signal a ‘jumping out of the frying pan into the fire’. Watch out for club job loses and a player firesale to maximise profit of a sale.

Simon Jordan just mentioned on Talksport that we are up for sale.

Given Jim White (Talksport) is friends with Dragan I wonder if there's some truth to that.

God please let this be true.

The whole lot need to piss off including Solak.

Equally, could've heard it from his other TS colleague Alex Crook...

Tbf... Simon Jordan WOULD know this.

I cannot imagine as much of a motor mouth he is, that he would say that live on air.

There's just no way he'd say that without knowing something.

Really? He chats crap on radio all day every day for a living now, I don't doubt that he heard it from someone but I wouldn't be certain that it's gospel / fully accurate

I agree with what you're saying but this is not the kind of thing you'd just blurt out for a reaction.

This is the sort of thing people get sued for.

Simon Jordan can be a tosspot of the highest order, but seriously he's not that daft especially in the presence of Jim White who is supposed to be very connected to Solak.

I didn't hear the piece, but I'd be interested to know from anyone that did, what Whites reaction was when Jordan said it.

I feel that's quite important here.. it would add a hell of lot of context.

I think I can live with that, provided we don't lose too many players over and above the expected departures. We've got the basis of a decent-ish Championship squad.

I would be happy to have a season of consolidation in the Champ and start building again for 2026/27, if it means we can finally say goodbye and good riddance these utterly incompetent fuckwits in charge of the club.

To be fair they have spent money, just not done it very well.

This could very much be out of the frying pan into the fire.

Both BBC Solent and the Echo say they knew about this rumour several days ago. Call me old fashioned but wasn't there a time when journos would publish such speculation rather than keep it under their hat...? Assume they resort to the latter these days for fear of losing certain access privileges to the club's inner sanctum...?

As with most takeover rumours opinion will be swayed by who the interested party is. Normally I’d say now is a bad time to sell, but the flip side is if some multi billionaire wants to come in and chuck a load of money at the club then bring it on. Hell I’d even be happy with some head chopping Middle Eastern businessman if it meant some trophies and European football in the long run.

So, White didn't bat an eyelid when Jordan slipped the rumour into conversation. Given White's supposed close ties with Dragan, you'd have expected him to pull Jordan up on it, or at least raise an eyebrow, if there was zero truth in the rumour...  Make of that what you will...

He definitely didn't say that like he was looking for a reaction.

And I can't tell if Jim White heard him say it or not he was organising his notes but there was no reaction from him whatsoever.

Keown definitely heard it he was looking straight at him.

What a shitshow, now making the papers https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/southampton-sale-relegation-dragan-solak-35133462

In reality the club probably isn’t up for sale actively but would take £125m if offered. But seemingly SR have been indiscreet.

Dread to think what Spors or prospective managers make of what Jordan has said and the lack of clear response.

Doubtful ownership, no manager, mercenary squad in tatters, set for equal low record points total = this could get a whole lot worse next season.

I have no idea in the truth but

1) if a journalist hears a rumour, looks into it, finds there is no basis to it, then no I would not expect them to report it.

2) if you are trying to sell something it is usual to seek interest in your sale, not deny it.

I’ve got no problem with Dragan Solak,  believe he’d be a good owner with right football people around him. Maybe Spors is a good start. I don’t really know how these things work but could he be looking for a way to sever ties with SR and testing the water?

Likely just wishfull thinking of course.

Manji to the front please, Manji to the front desk…..

Yep, as I reported before the season started - hence our recruitment of young players and "good" Championship players.

If Dragan had any sense, he would have a quiet word with Rasmus and tell him to fuck right  off.

Or actually fuck him off via a Chairman's vote of no confidence.  As he should have done in the summer of 2023.

It would be a legal headache trying to untangle the three clubs though. And these rumours are about SFC not Goztepe or Valenciennes, nor SR itself.

He’s done far more damage again in concert with Martin over the last 2 seasons as well. As usual, it will be the supporters and residents of the city employed at the club paying the price.

Fair points, but I'm not so sure we can 100% rule out the: "Journos find out the owner is thinking of selling; journos run it by the club; the club says, yes, there is some truth in it but we'd be grateful if you could keep it under your hat for the time being" scenario....?

A very predictable development. Dragon was sold an investment/PR opportunity. It has turned mega sour, and I'm sure part of him wants rid of what has become a millstone. Hopefully the other part wants to see the project through.

As others have said White or Jordan were probably encouraged to mention it. Looking to see what turns up I guess.

Frankly it fills me with dread and images of SISU come to mind. Nobody minted is buying Saints, not in its present state.

Feels like the club is in a very vulnerable state at the moment  Guess we need to brace ourselves for sales and expectations being lowered.

The one bright spot is the performance of the B team and Under 18. These things are relative to whoever they are playing obviously, but it feels like there is something there to use as a launch pad .
