benali-shorts Posted 7 October, 2020 Share Posted 7 October, 2020 I must admit I hadn't particularly noticed Tella's pace during any of his brief appearances to date, but notable on the list below from BBC. Good asset, will be interesting to see if we can develop him effectively. Fastest Premier League players this season Player Top speed (km/h) Tariq Lamptey (Brighton) 36.6 Kyle Walker (Man City) 36.6 Nathan Tella (Southampton) 35.6 Oliver Burke (Sheff Utd) 35.2 Aboubakar Kamara (Fulham) 35.2 Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) 35.1 Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) 35.1 Jamal Lewis (Newcastle) 35.1 Harvey Barnes (Leicester) 35.1 Kenny Tete (Fulham) 35.
SNSUN Posted 7 October, 2020 Share Posted 7 October, 2020 Cliche, but I like players with pace. Whether he has the footballing brain to go with it remains to be seen. Is he any better than Sims?
skintsaint Posted 7 October, 2020 Share Posted 7 October, 2020 Did it take him 300m to get upto speed as not seen any evidence that he is 'that' quick so far..
Jeremy Corbyn Posted 8 October, 2020 Share Posted 8 October, 2020 I think it'll be interesting to see which position he plays in eventually. He looks very direct when he comes off the bench, which is great as a contrast to Redmond, but unlikely how Ralph would want him to play if starting. waylander Posted 8 October, 2020 Share Posted 8 October, 2020 How does he compare to Obafemi?
the saint in winchester Posted 8 October, 2020 Share Posted 8 October, 2020 Can we get speeds for Long and Walcott as well? And Johnno Quick? Then we'll have a benchmark - as to whether they are Johnno Quick.

Disco Stu Posted 17 October, 2020 Share Posted 17 October, 2020 I saw some good football from him tonight. Won the ball back well too.
suewhistle Posted 17 October, 2020 Share Posted 17 October, 2020 Also disciplined at the end not just throwing in a cross which could have lead to a Chelsea counter-attack.

Agreed. I thought he played quite well and maturely, ensuring Saints got that point nailed.
nta786 Posted 17 October, 2020 Share Posted 17 October, 2020 The stream I was watching was actually really good to be able to hear Ralph’s instructions from the touchline. You could hear Ralph encouraging him by saying ‘Good, Good!’ and ‘Nathan stay in the middle’, ‘Press now’ etc etc I think we will see more from him, might even end up being the go-to sub instead of Obafemi. We all know how much Ralph values speed/pace
Shroppie Posted 18 October, 2020 Share Posted 18 October, 2020 He played a great ball in for Danny that could have been a winner.
skintsaint Posted 18 October, 2020 Share Posted 18 October, 2020 (edited) ignore me. Looks like the next Sims etc to me. Decent lower player but won't make top grade. I base all this on the 15mins he got last night. Edited 18 October, 2020 by skintsaint
