I think the key with Maitland Niles is that whilst he wants to play in midfield, no one else wants him to... He wouldn’t get a sniff in our midfield but for a huge injury crisis. Minamino will.

We should see how this season in relative safety, probably finish no higher than 12th or so. What is really concerning is how the squad is going to look next season. It's clear that we have no money and just to keep afloat we are likely to have to sell what's left of the crown jewels. Ings and JWP the first ones to go. Kat sold us down the river when she let Gao buy the club. She surely must have realised that he didn't have a pot to piss in.

We'll sell the Jewels in the summer. Ralph will move on and we'll be relegated. We'll become an average Championship side with most of our Academy players making up the bulk of the team.

That's.... if it happens, interesting.

Keep Valery and Bertrand too and i'll take this as an ok day.

Really can't for life of me understand why we are in for Minamino.

Long is going to Bournemouth....I assume Redmond would take the striker spot (played there on Saturday) and Minamino takes the 'No.10' spot.

Dissapointing it's not a defender of course, but this could be an absolutely brilliant signing if he can re-discover his form at Salzburg.

If we can't sign a fullback, we should use our loan slot to sign somebody. We've struggled in every position this season at one point or another.

Really i'd really prefer no one over a player who has shown zero ability to adapt to the league. No doubt we'll be forced to play him every game too.

So who gets dropped? Seems like his arrival will just provide a selection headache?

Any Premier League team which puts Shane Long on the pitch is short of options up front. I’d happily take a punt on Minamino rather than watch Long chase his own tail around the pitch for another minute.

Brilliant news if this happens. We are struggling for goals and I think this guy could be the catalyst to get us scoring more. Looks fantastic on his skills video before he signed for Liverpool. Fast, skilled, clever and a good finisher.

Well, it worked with Ings... We've had a lot of success in signing fringe players from the higher Prem clubs - Bertrand, Romeu, KWP and the already mentioned Ings. Hopefully get an option to buy in there, as if he is a success we'll have no hope of signing him permanently.

He'd play as a 10 for us.

Improves the squad. Potential signing in the summer. Good addition.

Better than hastily adding a full-back we really don't want to play.

I think they are gambling on muddling through the short term crisis, and finishing the rest of the season with Vesty (and Salisu) back and using Stephens as cover at full-back, until we can get another decent full-back in the summer.

neat and tidy footballer that loves getting on the ball and can perhaps offer that touch of quality we need in the final third.  More than happy to see if he can replicate RB Salzburg form.

With COVID limiting finances and scouting and making deals with oversees players tough, the choice of players is very limited, so this feels like a nice outcome.

So, is this Liverpool doing us a favour in return for having first dibs on Ings in the summer...?

Think it’s more likely that Klopp and Liverpool see us as the ideal club and environment for him to improve and develop
