I would be very happy with Tanganga if there's some kind of option to buy, he's been very good the times I've seen him played. Preferable to AMN certainly.

Think he only signed a new spurs contract start of this season. This will prob be a 6 month loan to tide us over.

5 year contract rumoured to be for £25k pw last summer. So unlikely to be a perm but wages shouldn’t be a major issue if he wants more experience.

WBA back in for AMN - weird one that. I guess they're guaranteeing him MF playing time. Still, you'd think someone would rather play for a mobile side managed by RH rather than a static long ball manager like SA. Anyway, each to their own. Let's just hope we get someone in as cover who is happy to play rather than sulk at playing 'out of position.'

I can see the media headlines right now ''AMN rejects Southampton to join WBA'.

What another one ? I don’t suppose we could ban or have a separate thread for people slagging off the deals or proposed deals every window and keep this one for rumours and news😇. We could call the other one “Change the Owner, staff and everyone , spend loads of money and end up like them down the road”. I do wish I could read the rumours without the crap and go back to the days we had someone up a tree at Staplewood😜

It's not 'just because of COVID' - it's the in fashion excuse for most things at the moment. Our situation was exactly the same before COVID.

We had to sell Targett for the exact sum of money we needed to pay Birmingham for Adams for example. We couldn't bring in KWP on loan until we'd loaned out Cedric for a fee etc. We have been run like this for several years now, whilst it can be called sustainable, it's also like operating with your arms tied up behind you with no flexibility when problems such as now occur.

Obviously as with all clubs we have been further hit by the 'football pause', but it's not fair to say that we are like this just because of COVID. We have been run on a shoestring for sometime now, but we've been lucky not to have been hit by injuries as we have now.

Let's hope we can pull some rabbits out of the hat before the closure of the window.

I mean, way to not address a single point from my post!

So why are so many teams not buying anyone in this window? Is that a massive coincidence, has the entire league decided to move to a sustainable financial model?

Oh no, we had to sell our back-up left back, who wanted to leave for first team football, and very few people had a problem with leaving. And I hardly see waiting until your £50k a week right back has moved on before bringing in his replacement. What if that had fallen through? We'd have been paying him to sit on the bench, and we are not rich enough to be doing things like that, are we?

It's not something that *can* be called sustainable, it *is* sustainable. What we have now is an unprecedented injury crisis, and I can't think of a club anywhere near our size that would be able to cope with it. If you want to argue that it's had nothing to do with the pandemic, knock yourself out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as frustrated as you are about what the injuries have done to our season. I genuinely believe that we had a shot of sneaking in to the top four if we'd kept everyone fit. But I don't expect the club to have the squad to be able to cope with that.

Will doubtless be positioned as full back cover being of lesser need with KWP injury not too bad and CBs getting close to fitness.

Reality is if you are reliant on other clubs letting players go, for little benefit to them, then you are liable to be left with nothing.

To have loaned out Vokins, and frozen out Valery it also suggests it was a mistake in the summer to think that they were sufficient back up.

We have been extremely fortunate that Bertrand and KWP have generally been durable despite our playing style and the impact of a condensed season.

Such a shame to be left with a weakness in a position where it surely wouldn't cost the earth to have something better.

Agree no point in getting someone for the sake of it, but with months to plan for this window and being in a comfortable league position, its just a bit disappointing and I'm sure Ralph agrees.

I can't think of any other PL club who just have one RB and one LB.

The Maitland-Niles central midfield thing is a bit weird. He's got into the England set-up as a wing-back. Southgate seems to want him to cover left wing-back. Why would he want to go to West Brom, assist with a probable relegation and then not go to the Euros as he's not been played in the position England seem to want to use him? Of course, if he backs himself to keep WBA up with a string of stellar midfield displays then fair enough but, even then, there's no guarantee England will want to use him there and he may get left out anyway because he's not playing where Southgate thinks he works best in his system. Not sure if it's his own ego or the direction he's been pointed at by his agents but it seems a little odd. Oh well, on to the next very last minute target...

It amuses me that a player like AMN has "representativeS. " I wonder how many a player on the fringes of the Arsenal team. I wonder who they are:

I thought that players had an agent. Who else do they need?  A valet? A butler? A bum wiper?

Sky (reporter at training ground) just said looking increasingly likely Tanganga will be staying at Spurs

I took longer than I was expecting to find that picture of Lenny Henry to post up here, and now you're saying I've wasted my time?

Presumably the links etc we're hearing are driven by agents and bored journos, since afterall 'we do our business in private'. Guessing we don't let Vokins (and potentially Valery) go without incoming cover.

I do have a nagging feeling we will soon be reflecting on a clusterfuck of a window though.

Was it Martin Semmens or Matt Crocker who recently said we no longer see loans as an appropriate way to develop our youth talent?

That being the case, it would seem that neither Valery nor Vokins has a future at the club.

And yes, if we come out of this window having loaned out our two backup fullbacks without bringing in at least one player to replace them, it would be a total failure of management from the entire club. So I have to be confident that we have already done a deal and are waiting to announce it later today.

Or maybe they’ve realised they cannot just pluck most players direct from u23s into the premier league and that our youth need competitive football against experienced players to help make the grade?

I mean, you'd hope so, right? Otherwise it does look, um, 'rash' at best. Unless we are so skint that even getting them off the books is considered more critical than shipping a lot of goals against United
