Have we missed a temporary trick in Jack Wilshere?

(especially if we're looking at this Brazilian 29 year old free agent?)

No we don’t  have any more room in treatment area plus our wage bill means we can’t recruit that level.

can’t wait to see the reaction on here about this 😂

but I agree, I think he could have done a job, especially in one of the 10 roles, add a bit of creativity.

if he stays fit, could be a great signing by Bournemouth

Why have no Prem clubs come in for him?

He's on a very average weekly wage (for Champ) and higher pay as you play bonus.

No he is injury prone and if Djenepo and Redmond are due back in a few weeks there is no need for him. What is the point in signing him only for us to have other number 10s return to fitness shortly after he arrives?

For Champ yes but there is a reason why he is at that level - he couldn’t get a game there before.

Looking at accounts and what Ralph said at weekend outside our financial limits.

1. How do you know they haven’t. As I understand it, he’s looking for regular game time rather than a big pay package.

2. if they haven’t, you’d have to ask them why not Ron, I can’t help on that one I’m afraid.

Any premier league squad that fielded the bench we did on Saturday could do with whatever experience they can get.

And before you say ‘blocking pathway etc.’ It’s only blocking it if they’re good enough, which as things stand, they’re not yet.

Yes it was an inexperienced bench. But it is daft to sign a player until the end of the season if we only need to cover players missing for a few weeks.

I like when people say this about players who are quite blatantly not going to stay fit.

So we will be signing noone then since we don't have a pot to piss in....

I'd be surprised if we get anyone.

This is the year to see some of the academy kids get more game time.

Unlikely, I didn't think he was great for Bolton.

Thought his career never recovered on leaving Herman's Hermits to be honest.

£2 million!  Either Bayer have a crack negotiating team, or there is something off with Gray that is keeping the price down.

Probably reflects fact he is available on a free in the summer

plus the wages they will save for a player who istn needed. its a bit like the Cedric deal with Arse.

Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move for Southampton striker Danny Ings, and are monitoring his situation ahead of a potential summer bid #saintsfc

Worth a go at a cut price?

It won’t be cut enough to be in our price range. Although I think he’d suit us (but not at the reported £120k wage demand, he’s worth less than half that.... )

It’s Sad state of affairs really

King's finishing ability is not much better than Long's, he's only really had two good seasons in his career. He does look less like a pub player when he tries to control a football, though.

I think he is a very good footballer and woud have made a good signing for us if the money had been there/right last summer. Excellent touch and ability. Not prolific, but a far far better player than Long, who is eating up wages. Not sure we can afford those (Kings) wages at the moment until we offload all our deadweight. Got to say that if Bournemouth want £18m for a player with 6 months left on his contract left, the thought of us selling Ings for £20m, or even putting a release clause in for that amount seems like madness. Whether Bompey get that money is another thing of course.

Fit in well with Theo, Adams and long at keeping the keepers confidence high in training then.

Never known a transfer window to be so quiet on here. Not even a fake rumour, I know we're skint but you'd for the inevitable Quincy Promes link somewhere... (thats an attempt at humour by the way)

Would be great if we could get a loan or two to bulk up the side a little. I feel like a great season is within our reach and a few extra bodies could be the difference. A little strength in depth never hurt anyone. I think we can see with Theo that getting a loan in that doesn't necessarily fit our model can work and be beneficial. We shall see, good luck my friends.

Seems like the injured players are starting to come back which is good.

Arguably the only area we are light is full back, so possibly this Arsenal game has come at a good time, in that Vokins and likely Valery will play and will really show how urgent the requirement is.

Also it is clear we will only bring in a loan that we feel we can buy if we want to, and that makes total sense IMO.

I don't think we have the money for even a loan. I'm not sure many clubs do to be honest, I've forgotten it's a transfer window.

Martin Seemens comments the other day were quite telling - we won't be buying players who are first team ready players, our now model is to find the Diallos, Salisu's etc who we have to build up to get to the level we need. Might take them a few months until they make an appearance etc.

It's quiet all round, everyone is skint. Only 6 transfers for more to £10m anywhere in the world, and of those 6 there is an "internal Red Bull" Salzburg to Leipzig, Diallo to Man Utd which was done in the Summer but had to wait until he turned 18, Kondogbia which was allowed outside the transfer window back in early November because Arsenal triggered Partey's release clause on deadline day and Pedro to Flamengo which is a loan being turned permanent. So basically just Haller to Ajax and Diatta to Monaco then.

Good points well made. I just figured that some clubs might want to loan out some players to put them in the shop window - parent club could be willing to cover wages for game time so they can sell them come the summer.

And people think club debts can be cleared by selling players. We're seeing the face of football for a while to come I fear - Most clubs have accrued large debts, and their main assets have become significantly less valuable since few clubs can afford to buy.

I wonder how many administrations will happen as a result of COVID, and likewise, will there be many wealthy investors queuing up to buy clubs once that happens?
