Paulwantsapint81 Posted 5 October, 2020 Share Posted 5 October, 2020 So when Theo Walcott next wears a saints shirt it will be over 14 years between appearances Can anyone beat it? egg Posted 7 October, 2020 Share Posted 7 October, 2020 Can’t think of anyone who’s close to that. Crouch to Pompey was a good few years, but nothing like Walcott.
skintsaint Posted 8 October, 2020 Share Posted 8 October, 2020 How about players like Robben & H.Larssen, both from memory returned to first clubs after many years away.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 8 October, 2020 Share Posted 8 October, 2020 Funny enough I read an article about Craig Gordon resigning for Hearts this summer. Last appearance for them was Aug 2007, so that’s over 13 years if he starts a game this season.
SaintBobby Posted 8 October, 2020 Share Posted 8 October, 2020 According to that Guardian article, in England it's David Watson of Notts County with the longest break (17 years). Looking him up on wikipedia, he only ever scored two gols for them - one in his first spell and one in his second. So, even if Theo scores for us, it won't be the longest gap between goals scored by a player for the same club!
vince Posted 8 October, 2020 Share Posted 8 October, 2020 Changing the topic slightly from football appearances to music - I saw a band a couple of years ago that I'd followed since I was a teenager. They played a song that I knew they hadn't played live in a long time, but it turned out they last played it at a gig I'd gone to in 1985 at the Royal Albert Hall, so I'd be there at the last two consecutive live performances of that song, 32 years apart - that made me feel old!
