SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 24 September, 2020 Posted 24 September, 2020 I don't know if anyone has seen this and/or knows anything about it...? https://kickgh.com/world-football/10788-southampton-to-announce-partnership-deal-with-ghanaian-giants-asante-kotoko It sounds a bit random to me! Or is it related to the potential takeover? Anyone know anything about it?
skintsaint Posted 24 September, 2020 Posted 24 September, 2020 What did Sunderland get out of it in 2011? Probably just the usual club link partnership that none of us are the wiser to what benefits Saints get.
EBS1980 Posted 24 September, 2020 Posted 24 September, 2020 I can see what’s in it for them, I assume our benefit would be any potential youngsters from west Africa?
Saint_clark Posted 24 September, 2020 Posted 24 September, 2020 Looking forward to the away friendly in preseason.

This has to be the motivation behind it and a good move. How many players from Africa do we see mentioned having already established themselves in decent European teams, Leipzig and Salzburg seem to do well from there.

Don t see how that can work as they would need a work permit

Toussaint Posted 24 September, 2020 Posted 24 September, 2020 I get those emails too, typical Saints to fall for it! 4
saintjimbo83 Posted 24 September, 2020 Posted 24 September, 2020 We have more partnerships than an open relationship
sydney_saint Posted 24 September, 2020 Posted 24 September, 2020 Seems positive. We get to build our club brand in a good footballing country with decent market, plus access to promising youngsters, whilst they get access to equipment, coaching techniques etc. To get one of the better clubs in West Africa as well is really cool as well. 1
Master Bates Posted 14 January, 2021 Posted 14 January, 2021 https://mobile.footballghana.com/asante-kotoko-set-to-announce-partnership-deal-with-premier-league-club-southampton
Toussaint Posted 14 January, 2021 Posted 14 January, 2021 So the partnership is in relation to player development, not ownership?
ozzmeister Posted 14 January, 2021 Posted 14 January, 2021 Hmmmmm makes me wonder is signing Salisu was somehow part of the deal - have a local boy in the squad!

Dusic Posted 19 January, 2021 Posted 19 January, 2021 Appears they are a well supported club in Ghana so quite a big deal over there.
