trousers Posted 13 September, 2020 Posted 13 September, 2020 So, play the 'first 11' to iron out the wrinkles from the Palace game, or rest key players for the Spurs game? I'm thinking... Forster KWP - Bednarek - Stephens - Vokins Romeu - JWP Djenepo - Redmond Adams - Obefemi

I'm thinking... Forster KWP - Bednarek - Stephens - Vokins Romeu - JWP Djenepo - Redmond Adams - Obefemi I think it’ll be a mix, though a lot to be said about getting more match practice in for the first team. Ings last season against the Skates comes to mind. Forster, Valery, Stephens, Bednarek, Vokins, JWP, Smallbone, Djenepo, Redmond, Adams, Obafemi Expect a scrappy, disjointed affair - could go either way, fingers crossed it’s us as could do with a boost.
JRM Posted 13 September, 2020 Posted 13 September, 2020 According to the EFL this game will not be available on iFollow so doesn't look like there will be any way for the loyal Saints and Brentford supporters to witness this behind closed doors spectacle, radio Solent commentary might be the only option to listen unless it's being televised abroad and we can get a stream. Bound to be changes, according to a Brentford mate he reckons "they'll play the reserves" so hopefully our B side will still be strong enough. Tight game , I'll go with 2-1. WBA or Harrogate is the prize for the winners, we'll know the outcome of that one already as they kick off at 6.

Lighthouse Posted 14 September, 2020 Posted 14 September, 2020 It seems like our first 11 could do with a bit more sharpness and fluidity, rather than a rest. I’d give one of the reserve ‘keepers a go and maybe Djenepo in for Redmond to give him some game time. 2

Saint Garrett Posted 14 September, 2020 Posted 14 September, 2020 Think we need the "First XI" need as many minutes as possible...need to get up to speed as a few of them look off the pace at the moment. 2
sydenhamssocks Posted 14 September, 2020 Posted 14 September, 2020 Game to be streamed on EFL Carabao Cup website for a tenner. Details on site.

benjii Posted 14 September, 2020 Posted 14 September, 2020 Used to love squeezing into the Dell for a league cup match when I was a teenager. 3 quid on the gate. Bargain!
steve green Posted 14 September, 2020 Posted 14 September, 2020 Only a few seasons ago I remember paying £10 to see us play some plucky lower league team at St Marys about this stage. Notable for an appearance of the seldom spotted G. Ramirez so well worth the money.
skintsaint Posted 15 September, 2020 Posted 15 September, 2020 (edited) Win this Cup and now get into Europe! Kinda....some weird third rate competition like the League Cup is. Edited 15 September, 2020 by skintsaint
trousers Posted 15 September, 2020 Author Posted 15 September, 2020 Cheeky little cameo appearance tomorrow...?

Totton Saint Posted 15 September, 2020 Posted 15 September, 2020 After the utterly inept and pedestrian display vs Palace where we strolled around arrogantly passing backwards as if it was a forgone conclusion ( and all time in the world) we would win after going a goal down, I would not pay £10 and risk watching similar dross. Very worrying. However Spurs are in disarray already

suewhistle Posted 15 September, 2020 Posted 15 September, 2020 Does too! Just not in association football..
Sideways Jim Posted 15 September, 2020 Posted 15 September, 2020 GK: Forster RB: Valery CB: Stephens CB: Salisu LB: Vokins CM: Ward-Prowse (Captain) CM: Jankewitz RM: Obafemi LM: Djenepo FW: Adams FW: Long

I think we’ll see Slattery in there, and I’d be surprised if Sims doesn’t get a game.

SaintMB Posted 15 September, 2020 Posted 15 September, 2020 I can't see much changing from the 1st team. Maybe the keeper. Given the lacklustre display against Palace, the manager will want to get that group firing a bit before Spurs come to town.
John Boy Saint Posted 15 September, 2020 Posted 15 September, 2020 Seeing as we had just the half baked marathon v Swansea as our only pre season game, we need the bulk of the first XI playing to get the cohesion that was missing on Saturday. Win this, win Sunday, then maybe dick about with the line up next week.
Nolan Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 judging from the picture that the club have put up this morning. -----------------Forster------------------- KWP Bednarek Salisu Vokins ----------JWP-------- Romeu---------- --------Djenepo ------ Tella------------ --------Adams------Obafemi---------
Convict Colony Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 I'd give JWP a break to manage his minutes given his endurance records from last season or at least limit him to 60mins
DT Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 Bad feeling about this one but would it be a massive loss unless we really go for this cup? (ie play full 1st team, which won't happen). Think banana skin was invented for this one.

Harry_SFC Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 I don't think there will be many changes at all. You'd imagine that Forster, Djenepo and Vestergaard will play and possibly Obafemi but most of the first team players need minutes.
Brumsaint Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 If we didn't need the game for our first 11 to build fitness and match sharpness, I'd like to see some youngsters playing, but unless there's a risk of injury, I can't see anyone apart from McCarthy being "rested".
disconnect Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 the hype for this match is unbearable...! (perhaps something to do with no fans and £10 streams?)

simo Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 Ralph taking this very seriously! Only change is Tella in for Smallbone
Disco Stu Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 Strong team. I like it but no injuries please!
Convict Colony Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 check out the streams closer to kickoff but this site is usually good and iFollow seems to be the league and cup partner. https://soccer.streamsgate.tv/event/southampton-vs-brentford-match-preview/ 2
vectraman Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 It is realistically our best chance at winning a trophy, so really good to see Ralph taking this seriously. All the nonsense spouted about the premier league being the most important thing.....🤦 We aren’t going to go down so may as well take the cups seriously 🤞🤞

Baird of the land Posted 16 September, 2020 Posted 16 September, 2020 Disappointed that Vokins isn't starting. Interested to see how Tella does. Got to assume Djenepo is nowhere near match fit.
