That's gutting for Barnsley (or the Dingles, as they're called around here)

Such a blatant offside that would so obviously have been called by VAR if they had it.

OK, replay showed him behind the ball when it was played. TBF it wasn't clear from the angles they showed originally and looked clearly off.

I'd stick Thiago up there as the worst signing of the season. He has ruined Liverpool as much as VVD missing has.

He looks completely at odds with this league.

Loved Roy Keane’s recent assessment of Liverpool’s title defence.

im sure the excuses will flow and the supposedly lovable Juergen will show his nasty side to the journos (again)

It's hilarious reading the Bournemouth fans' comments about Long on the Up the Cherries match thread today:

langham
Long having a dismal game, urgent to get Surridge on.

Topfarrier
Shane Long has to come off

langham
Long is soooo slow ... where’s Surridge??

stanthevan
3 against 3 and Long stops to play it backwards.

Kudos
I wonder if Forest will allow us to swap Long's loan contract for Grabs?

Topfarrier
Why doesn't Long just play the fckin ball!!

drd
Long really is dreadful

northstandmark
How is Long still on the pitch

andyred
Please take Long off.

CherryBare

Long finally off

drd

Thank **************** for that

I understand Klopp is inciting thousands of scousers to "take back their stolen Premier League" and march on football headquaters after claiming he has. in fact. won the last 3 games. "If you only count the valid goals it was a landslide" he claims. His captain Jordan 'hard man' Henderson has suggested VAR machines built by Man Utd supporters have altered game results against them. Also "it's not fair".

A Premier League representative was described as 'relaxed' saying "They have no idea where London is and will be distracted by something shiny before they get far enough to attract a C19 travel breach fine.

Bizarre that Long’s contract was extended. Not quite Les Reed/Forster levels of iffy ness but certainly the business rationale is very thin. His pace was his only asset.

Talking of people being kept on too long, I think Hodgson will be retiring before the end of the season. They aren’t going down so chance to bed someone new in to the manager’s chair.

I think he was probably seen as the cheap option so that we wouldn’t have to bring in another forward, before Theo became available. Personally I’d rather have just let him go and had nobody instead. Ignoring Theo, we’ve had nothing from Long that Obafemi or N’Lundulu couldn’t have done.

I don't like Leicester (for obvious reasons) but always nice to see Liverpool losing and it doesn't matter which team beats them. I wonder how long it will be before those wonderful, loyal, devout...... yet funny,  Scouse fans start calling for Herr Klopp's head. I reckon another couple of quickfire losses and we might hear murmurings coming from those dustbins.

That Villa result still annoys me- they are 7 pts clear yet had we got that pen/them down to 10 men and then subsequently won, we’d only be a pt behind.
They’ve looked average tonight but will give it to them- Martinez has been a coup too

Watching WBA v MU, a month ago I'd be wanting a WBA win now looking for a MU win. I know that we will not lose all of our remaining games but I do struggle to see where the next points are going to come from. Even when we play the bottom 3 they'll either be fighting to make up the points deficit or be nice and relaxed having accepted their relegation fate if not mathematically possible to avoid relegation.

Same with Everton vs Fulham. A month ago I'd want Fulham to win. Not any more. Come on Toffees.

Ugh, I need to take a shower. 🤮

I know it's mad to think this way but stranger things have happened now Fulham are winning. If Fulham go on a little run and we keep losing then it could get very nervy.

If they send us down, they have to buy Lemina, small mercy's  and all that

Their next three games - away to Burnley, home to Sheff United, away to Palace.....

Bunch of fannies.

We're not going down. Fulham have now won a total of three Premier League games.

I'd fucking love to see this forum if it was us that was 18th. Us with 3 wins. Us with 18 points from 23 games (less than 0.8 per game). And us 7 points adrift of safety.

I get the feeling people would not have this level of belief in Saints in that situation that they currently have for Fulham.

We’re the same distance behind Liverpool, who are also playing badly. Weirdly, nobody seems to be talking about catching them.

I think that's unfair. I don't think we'll go down but what I said was that we are in an alarming slump and that if it continues for a few more games I could start to get nervous. I certainly hope that things pick up before next season, sheffield United have shown what can happen when you go into a ebw season off the back of poor form.

That's because talk of us catching Liverpool would be ridiculous.

I'd wager with you that Fulham will much finish closer to us than we do to Liverpool.

We aren't going down though.

Why? We’re equidistant from both after 23 games, why would that change after 38?

Was that true when we were top of the league?

Yes I'd say that recent form is normally a decent indicator of how you might perform in the next few games. Just because we ended up doing a fair bit worse doesn't change that. It's an indicator not a certainty.

Because if you know Saints you know things will pan out a certain way, I recall posting back in December before the Arsenal game that an Arsenal mate had bet me £10 that they would still finish above us despite 1) us going top of the league during that game and 2) Arsenal being just above the relegation zone at the time.

I didn't accept the bet as I knew they'd end up catching us, didn't realise it would happen so quickly though.
