Oh good, Karen Carney as pundit for the Leeds match.Wonder if she can piss the Leeds fans off a bit more than she has already.

Just assigning her as the pundit for it will probably have done that

Jeez Man Utd are Uber desperate to win at Burnley - all the dark arts they are applying is like they are whistle blowing all the Magic Circles secrets they are so transparent, and referee Friend for a moment almost had the view of “really is do you think I rode up the river on a bicycle”.

Shaw nearly got a trip to Nando’s before they closed - lucky boy only got a kind yellow.

Fernandes just “booked for whinging” to quote Neville

Quite entertaining just for the sideshow.

Brighton lining up with 4 CBs against City tonight, City playing without a traditional striker. High scoring game inbound!

West Brom goalie Sam Johnstone has tested positive for Covid, misses today's games vs Wolves and potentially the next two. This could well be the thing that sends them down, he's been their best player this season and probably won them more points than any other player.

I think they are already gone tbh. It's between them and Sheff U for 20th, then a clutch of other teams to battle it out for 18th.

We're getting dragged into it.

Yep complacency on here is shocking.

Fulham, Sheffield Utd and WBA all in form

Cavaeliro at Fulham is utter sh1te, just missed a sitter after a lovely move. He was also the one who did the air shot against us in front of a free goal. £16m FFS

Wolves having a tough season so far.

Dunno, just an average season really. They've had a few high flying years, but they're reverting to more of a midtable side whilst they blood some younger players.

They're only 7 points worse off than us. Two wins and they're looking at top 4 again.

That was 90mins I'll never get back. Why do these games always turn out to be some of the worst 'football' matches?

Liverpool look completely shot.

Explains why Mrs JBS switched over to the Ice cobblers - rare for her to switch over from footie.

Shocking match. This is the worst Premiership season for overall quality in recent memory. That a dreadful Man U team are top sums it up.

Totally agree

Agree. I think the lack of crowds in the grounds is really starting to tell on the players. There seems to be a complacency that you perhaps wouldn't have if 30,000, 40.000 or 50.000 fans are urging you on, or conversely getting on your back if you make a mistake. I'm sure many of the players thrive on the adrenaline a crowd brings. The Liverpool v Man U game was another "top 6" snore fest.  Liverpool apparently had 3 shots on target - Man Utd had 4. When you look at "the talent" on display that's pretty poor by anyone's standards.

After our game, I just caught the final 15 minutes of the Leicester v Chelsea game, and I can't see anyone stopping Leicester this season. They obviously have a team of very good, experienced pros who know how to totally intimidate the opposition: a bit like the Leeds side of the early 70s. Chelsea just looked scared of them at the end.

Lampard must be close to the sack surely.

At least we can then get on with the serious business of shitting ourselves that Ralph's on the shortlist.

We weren't a million miles away from earning a deserved point against them with a depleted squad...

We're not even halfway yet and Everton, Chelsea, Leicester, Spurs, Liverpool and the Manchester teams have all topped the table at some point (possibly not Man City?) and been considered as title contenders. Plenty of twists and turns in this title race to go. It would be a very good season to get amongst that group, although I'd personally settle for a Cup Final win ;)

Not English league I know but just reading that Real Madrid have been knocked out the cup by a team in a regionalised 3rd division, who were down to 10 men. I don’t know enough about the Spanish lower leagues to know who our equivalent of CD Alcoyano is. Biggest upset in Spanish football history apparently.

Not as bad at the 4-0 drubbing by a third tier team a few years back. They actually had Raul and Co playing.

Absolute ripper. Can't stand them just like Man U, PSG and the New York Yankees and the LA Lakers. Too much money, often not enough humility.

That just made me think of a preseason game I went to in Catalunya between Pochettinos team at the time Espanyol and the local team Palafrugell who were 7 leagues below the La Liga side. Despite being an early pre season friendly the locals had their tails up and were giving Espanyol a proper game. Probably helped by Poch putting out a mainly second string, they were being led a merry dance blushes saved only by their keeper.  The sports ground was packed with Espanyol fans who had made the hour and a bit drive up from Barcelona, their grumbling was quite amusing to our little cluster of Saints, Leeds, Swansea, Ajax, Twente, fans who had exited the campsite on "lads night out". When the minnows scored Poch sent the big guns to start warming up early on a side pitch, losing to a team residing 7 divisions below from a Catalan independence heartland would be a career threatening event. Second half the Espanyol 1st team took to the pitch and whilst looking a little better only just squeezed a 2-1 win. On a sad note a couple of weeks later Daniel Jarque one club man at Espanyol and recently appointed captain had a fatal heart attack at the age of 26 in his pre season hotel room.

Looking at the Real Madrid game, they had a side like ours v Shrewsbury  a peppering of front line first team players. Alcoyano are pretty much a Shrewsbury except where we have 4 professional leagues, in Spain its a bit nuts La Liga is the top of the tree, the Segunda division (=Championship) then you get into Segunda Division B (semi professional) which is split up like the old Division 3 North and South was here, except its made up of 102 teams split into 5 groups! These leagues have a sprinkling of La Liga and Segunda division B teams in them, each team must have a minimum of 10 players on a professional contract and a maximum of 22 players. Like all football we all know little of other countries leagues beyond the headline top flight. This Segunda B league make up just shows how big football in Spain is, beyond that and still taken seriously is the Tercera Division, 360 teams split into 18 regional leagues all chasing promotion into the semi professional Segunda B league. The set up, especially the pitch conditions even at the Tercera level are exceptional, they make places like Bashley look like they are playing on a prehistoric bog by comparison.

Lunchtime reading intermission over.

Do think the Man City offside goal is one where the laws are just badly devised.

Yes, that was awful. Mings was clearly affected by the presence of an offside player.

Agree with this. Maybe teams should exploit this 'loophole' by sticking a player up front in an offside position for the entirety of the game in order to put off the defenders, wait for the inevitable mistake, and then poach a goal

It would be kinda amusing if this happened. All the attempts to go so forensic with offside and all that happens is that goal hanging returns- the one thing that the offside rule was brought in to eliminate.
