Mr X Posted 21 August, 2020 Posted 21 August, 2020 Rumours linking us to him, let's hope not! Surely we can do better than signing an injured 29 year old that's never been a prolific goalscorer. Can't think that RH would see him as the type of player we need? I know inggs prior injury record isn't good but no one doubted he had natural natural talent not sure the same can be said of wellbeck. https://www.mediareferee.com/2020/08/21/why-southampton-should-avoid-a-move-for-danny-welbeck/
Badger Posted 21 August, 2020 Posted 21 August, 2020 (edited) Don't think we were interested when he left Arsenal on a free, so can't see us being interested now at the 'cut price' £5.5m. Assume that's a transfer fee not what Watford pay us to take him. Outside the age bracket we're meant to be going for. Edited 21 August, 2020 by Badger
Appy Posted 21 August, 2020 Posted 21 August, 2020 Playing Devils advocate, if his wages were manageable he would be a good squad player, can cover a number of positions, but agreed it just doesn’t seem like the signing we make.
krissyboy31 Posted 21 August, 2020 Posted 21 August, 2020 I think he's a decent player but this link doesn't make sense. Age, fitness record and wages are all contrary to our normal transfer policy (although many questioned Ingsy's fitness record).
saint77 Posted 21 August, 2020 Posted 21 August, 2020 Believe it or not he was our first choice before Ings at the time but his wages were over 100k a week which ended that deal
Baird of the land Posted 21 August, 2020 Posted 21 August, 2020 Think he’s an ok player and would have been an improvement on long. However we’ve re-signed long for another 2 years so would be a slightly odd move.
Nolan Posted 21 August, 2020 Posted 21 August, 2020 We've been linked so they can sell him to a championship club and that club can say "look, we beat a Premier League club to his Signature".

It's There Posted 21 August, 2020 Posted 21 August, 2020 Personally, I think he's a very intelligent player and, at that price, could be worth it. 3

verlaine1979 Posted 21 August, 2020 Posted 21 August, 2020 Eh, didn't we just hint that we were switching to an under-26 recruitment policy? I'm sure there'll be exceptions to that occasionally if we want to add a bit of experience and leadership to the squad, but I doubt we'll make one for someone who has averaged only 10 games a season throughout his career on a minutes-played basis.

Yep - average amount spent on treatment table. The only good season he has had was when playing alongside one of the worlds best strikers.
Dark Munster Posted 23 August, 2020 Posted 23 August, 2020 His record playing for England is very good.
